Try setup using 2.4Ghz wifi. Set Mi App region to China instead of Singapore. Not sure if that helps...

I have no issue controlling both Gen 1 & Gen 2 from my phone. I'm using iphone.

ok, i'll try changing region to china. But for the setup, i always do in 2.4ghz. The purifier itself only can detect 2.4ghz

Taobao got what...... got 3rd party sellers. Simplypost-ninjavan, 4PX official forwarders all no issue to forward, no need 3rd party. Also not TB system keyword restricted.

eg

anyone seen or used this product on aircon before? http://www.airecontrol.com/aircon-servicing-useful-links

wonder if any concern for those with respiratory problem. like voc

If you are talking about preventing mold, esp black mold which would be responsible for triggers of allergic rhinitis and asthma which most of us are interested in (of coz responsible for other diseases as well when present in higher concentrations but not so common for us folks).......just use a suitable anti-mold spray. I am using Walch disinfectant spray which is a 55% ethanol + 0.05% chlorxylenol (dettol) aerosol spray. I got it from Taobao via Ezbuy Prime, so basically it was like S$5.50 per 500ml aerosol.
It also contains a bit of Triclosan @ 0.03% if i rem correctly, that ingredient would not touch black mold.

You can get similar disinfectants in NTUC, but more ex.

But seriously you can go to Sin Chong and get $7.80 1L bottle of 96% denatured alcohol. 70% is effective for treating mold already, so you might wanna dilute it a bit. So that's $7.80 for 1.3L of product, quite a fair bit for the money. You'd probably use about 100+ml of the product to spray inside.

I use a mixture of the Walch and denatured alcohol diluted a bit, after i DIY clean my FCUs.
But first and foremost, cleaning the FCU works best, followed by these anti-bacteria and anti-mold treatment. Actually anti-bacteria not much of an issue for us, the issue is the mold which is a known allergen for our rhinitis and asthma and of coz just makes us feel screwed up. A certain type of toxic black mold produces mycotoxins when it's high enough in the infestation, and esp if you go disturb the mold by cleaning action (eg physical scrubbing etc), so be very careful esp since the air-conditioner has a blower in which it'd ACTIVELY spread and circulate whatever toxins it can produce.

And of coz when there is dirt there would be dust mite, and of coz their droppings which is a known powerful allergen. So yeah.......keep it clean.

I would not expect the biocide to be as effective as good cleaning of the FCU. And i do mean solid cleaning/

Can check the DIY FCU cleaning thread for some tips. Am afraid that it'd be like another Air Purifier info thread, it's somewhat technical in nature as well. :s13:

Of coz this is a vid that is somewhat smells of typical fear-mongering, but i believe for some pax who are really super allergic, this could be legit and have some basis and carry some truth in it.

Google and confirm for yourself that alcohols are effective against mold (at least surface mold on non-porous surfaces like the aircon FCU).

Also, the plastics in the aircon (polystyrene and expanded polystyrene/styrofoam) is not reactive with denatured alcohol.

S$13 a piece. ~ 3 months shelf life....... S$52 per year.

I'd spend my money on aircon FCU cleaning equipment, evaporator coil cleaners (not the alkaline foaming coil cleaners, the ones what are used in AC FCU chemical overhauls), disinfectant sprays etc.

I think much more cost effective.

I am using this aerosol to help control mold re-population after cleaning, hopefully slows down the re-growth and it'd be due for cleaning again before they can gain a foothold.
The Sin Chong denatured alcohol is more cost effective, but this is much more convenient. Anyway, the Walch is not very expensive also at just $5.50 per 500ml aerosol can lah. Each time each FCU 100 ml of spray is more more than enough to soak all internal surfaces and areas behind the blower, the blower itself etc.

In real life, i use both to whack.

Got from Ezbuy Prime. Taobao...... but of coz cannot ship aerosols.

Walch is a legit china brand btw. NTUC is selling some of its disinfectant products and detergents.

Up to 55% ethanol
0.055% chloroxylenol (dettol)
0.055% triclosan

First 2 ingredients control mold.
If you were to go NTUC, you'd find that many of those disinfectant aerosol sprays are also 60% ethanol. Dettol, Jackie etc. I think only Lysol has additional stuff.

Can also use Jackie or Dettol or Lysol air, aerosols.....but basically more expensive versions of the Walch (the Walch has additional chloroxylenol and triclosan but triclosan not really applicable in our AC FCU cleaning use) and deifnitely more expensive than DIY manual/pump pressurised spray with denatured ethanol that you dilute a bit yourself.

Lysol professional is a bit special, it is a ethanol mixed with ammonium sacharinate, something like your Febreeze (no ethanols though).

You might need to blast it off after using though. So a bit dilemma, to use before the wash or use after the wash. Use before main wash process = dirty soils still present.
Use after wash = additional rinising, but i think the risk of residue affecting the fins not that high.

NTUC and People's PArk Swantson also got sell Walch stuff. But not the aircon disinfection aerosol.

One more, Clorox disinfectant spray on sale in NTUC.

66% ethanol, 5.3% dipropylene glycol. Molecular Formula C6H14O3

Sounds similar to the surfactant used in the Enviro-coil, Comstar Coil safe and Rectorseal Desolv. (Dipropylene glycol monomethyl ether Molecular C7H16O3)
