Had a good experience with Xiaomi Air Purifier (Gen 2). Works surprisingly well. Cheap to boot.
And this is with 2 chain smokers in the house.

The question is not aircond or non-aircond. To be effective, all windows/doors should be closed, ie. as little air leakage as possible. Else wasting electricity only.

For those using the Xiaomi gen pro purifiers, do take note that if you intend to buy filters to replace, is better to check with seller whether their filters has that RFID at the bottom of the filter.

Old enhanced green filter does not have that RFID "sticker" on it. New ones I not sure. Antibacterial and the normal blue ones that I bought recently have.

If it doesn't, when u replaced it, the purifier will display error/reminder msg asking you to use "original" filter. Hahaha.

Not that cannot use... but on and off will show that error/reminder message. That happens to me when I replaced with the enhanced green filter that is without the RFID.

Just sharing. :)

links and prices from here.

For laser particle counter, i can recommend these 2 gadgets.

The RMB 429 version has formaldehyde sensor inside. The RMB 629 has a CO2 sensors inside.

Another gadget
This one can toggle between different screens and have different display readouts. But if i am not wrong, there is no option for having 1 single device to give you a smoke PM2.5, PM xx concentration (ug/m3), formaldehyde HCHO and CO2. CO2 is usually the limiting factor.

However, for some geeks, this version does give you the number of particulates count (see below), of course do not expect this to be lab-grade accurate at all, but for home/haze/air purifier and even if you use hospital grade big-ass DIY HEPA air purifier/filters that's modified from clean room equipment it's going to be more than sufficient. (can import these China machines via sea ship, actually still significantly cheaper than your Cado 310 1.1k cost =:p But they look somewhat industrial though some versions are pretty ok)

So basically with the AX40 with 25RMB filter and Xiaomi AP2 with 50RMB filter, you can do close to 24/7 at the lowest possible filter recurring cost.

Hey Bro WRXL,

sorry don't flame me pls as I haven't been following this thread for a long time, I've searched the RMB25, 3rd party filter for samsung AP but cannot find. can share the URL? :s34:

I'm reading up on Samsung AX40 (seems like got many different models) but it seems to be more than $350. I'm not exactly sure what's good about it over Xiaomi air purifier. I think I decided to go with Xiaomi air purifier 2 (not the s or pro) as it seems cheap, relatively speaking.

I'm stuck on choosing the type of filters though. Is there a English comparison page? What does the built in filter come with?

This is what I thinking I'm going to get for $209 (if Tio carrot chop please let me know!):
TYPE : 2nd Gen
0) READY STOCK : YES
A) FREE : Original Filter in-box
B) Safety Mark Cable : YES
C) Xiaomi Filter : PURPLE ANTIBIOSIS VERSION(+$44.00)
D) Warranty : 10 Months

The built in filter is the original normal blue filter that comes with it. Already inside the purifier.

You do not need to add the option C (Xiaomi filter) unless you intend to buy extra filter at the same time.

For the filters in simplicity...

1. Normal original blue type

2. Enhanced green type (with added activated carbon filter in the inner most) thicker than the normal blue and the antibacterial purple type.

3. Antibacterial purple type (looks the "same" as the blue one except is in purple colour with the antibacterial ....)

As for the pricing, don't know. Very long no monitor.

Thank you! I think there's no option to not choose an extra filter so I guess I'll be going with the green one..

Edit: I was wrong, you can choose without. Total is $165 before shipping and discounts.

Just got my Xiaomi air purifier 2. However the wifi light keeps blinking very fast and I'm not sure how to connect my phone to it? There are no instructions at all! I installed the mi home iOS app and every time it connects it fails. I'm already connected to the air purifier wifi but it always disconnects while attempting to connect.
