Any users of Samsung AX40 knows, if I can use water to rinse the back-plate mesh (not the filter media) of the filter?:

I just rinse under running water after soaping or if no time to wait for it to dry I use a slightly damp cloth to wipe away the dirt.

Changing from the orignal AX40s to the TB ones, at least for the 300x300x25mm (then you cut one side up and stuff the other side up with plastic wrapping to reduce airflow) would make it an approx 220 m3/hr CADR machine from my calculations.
Original is around 320 m3/hr CADR.

That's still mighty fine for a BTO bedroom.
And more than sufficient ACH (at least 5X) for filtering allergens like dust mite droppings or mold spores that gets circulated by the AC FCU etc.
ie no issue for sensitive individuals.

I am able to get ~ 5 ug/m3 on the meter with external levels well above 100 ug/m3 But very small gap at the windows, maybe 2-3mm, but CO2 levels already getting pretty high at ~ 1500 ppm on the meter. Usually i like to leave 5-10mm gap at the windows.

Any issue if we don't change filter on time
The clean air would have smell
Will the particles come back out. Ha

Thanks

Posted from PCWX using ALP-L29

Before Haze,
2s $139
pro $22x

After Haze,
2s $169
pro $249

i think most people got the 2s for $110 during 9.9

No issue theorectically, other than the smell.

Even if it leaks when it is getting quite filled up, it should be very little, so much so that it'd be re-filtered back from the intake.

The increasing smell is usually a problem way before any "leakage" issue might start, and i am talking about the lowest cost generic china HEPAs. :D
Coz i do somewhat regularly measure the air quality/filters of my stuff, especially during the annual haze season period.

I don't know if there really is an issue (as I don't own one) but I do know that in taobao, there are ppl selling modification of the xiaomi ap sensor to plantower sensor.

https://world.taobao.com/item/549613853520.htm

It's just a screw and plug and play away, from the instructions on taobao sellers.

Don’t know.

Have compared with standalone mijia counter and another 3rd party counter with the inbuilt XiaoMi counter (from XiaoMi pro AP) Readings didn’t defer very much. Not that great.

Tested before if house light incense stick, all spike up.

During haze period also able to spike up. Have been using the standalone counters to see raw spot readings. Won’t say are accurate but is good enough to know whether the air quality here is improving or detoriating. And if the inbuilt XiaoMi AP counter reading does not defer much from these standalone counters, is also good enough - at least for me.

I also have read or heard people saying not true HEPA filter = no filter. This and that...

GPGT. Sufficient for filtering PM2.5

Just curious, how can those Novita, Sharp & Philips AP command such high prices, e.g. >$300? Wouldn’t the xiaomis outright beat them?

Won’t say XiaoMi AP beats the rest. Every AP has their own pros and cons.

Is just good enough for me at that pricing and for long run in changing the filters. It works for me. Previously using other brands. Original filters are just too expensive here. So after previous haze, I decided to change to XiaoMi. Gen1. Gen2. And finally all Pros. Am still using XiaoMi Pro APs for all my bedrooms and living hall.

The only thing i don’t like, is not really the purifier itself. Rather, is the MiHome app. Can be buggy at times. Other than that, is ok.

I bought from Taobao several years back. Cannot remember what is the model. Also not sure if still available or if there’s an improved version.

There are many types now. If keen, just get the sensors that are using laser.

The version tested was the Xiaomi 2 which uses the less accurate infrared sensor. Xiaomi 2S and Pro version use a more accurate laser sensor, which was probably why Lucky177 (using Pro version) found that his/her air purifier readings are acceptable.

I was initially alarmed by the smartairfilters.com article too. But this one below should help to alleviate some concern? Other users may want to feedback on Xiaomi 2S version?

Can I ask a rather stupid question? Xiaomi AP users, do you leave your AP on auto or switch off usually, to be switched on only when you feel that pm2.5 levels are high?

The mi app cannot tell us the current pm2.5 levels unless the AP is on right?

If u didn’t off the main supply, it will still show the reading via the app despite the AP on standby “off” mode.

I don’t set it to auto (fan speed) - I feel it is “ineffective”. I usually run at selected favorite fan speed or switch it off (as in standby mode).

Actually there’s automation on the app, to let it auto switch on at certain timing etc. I used to set it and it works but sometime it doesn’t. Ever since then, I stop using the automation.

Eg. If you have the mijia PM2.5 detector, also can link to your purifier. And that detector you can actually put somewhere “outside” :D used to test this feature in the past. Now I don’t. So dunno working or not.

Thanks so much for your reply, yes I didn’t on the main switch, glad that it will still show the reading.

I don’t have the mijia detector, my meter is from WCLH.. but it’s ok I don’t need to link everything together...

The signal prompt I recently also gets that. But connect and control is ok. I just ignore that signal prompt. Controls are ok. Touch wood.

Mi air purifier 3 just arrived! Size comparison w the Philips ac 4025.

The manual mode allows me to choose what speeds, and the coverage area by each speed. Not bad! My first xiaomi air purifier purchase
