Get a proper car HEPA AP ba. Taobao got quite a few, plus filters.

Best is still the AC filter behind the glove compartment box. It would stress the airflow somewhat though, so get 1pc to try first.

The so called free 2 filters means
1. New filter inside the AX40 purifier
(remember to remove the plastic cover)
2. Another extra new filter (comes with box)

In other words, only 1 additional filter. The other one already inside the AX40 purifier.

A little deceiving leh. Say 2 but actually only 1 filter extra. Say free 2...

Joej, go for the AX40 pack first. Later in April or May, go for the XM2 on TB. Then in June/July......you may wish to stock up the XM filter pack and also the DIY 百姓 commoner HEPA, for the AX40. Then get your wife some Taobao gal goodies for cheap so that she'd not nag at your new toys.
I find the Fitflops (cheong) to be pretty ok...etc.

Problem solved forever from all angles, really. :s13:

Wah seh.. not bad... :p

anyone know a way i can get the Xiaomi Air Purifier version 2 and spare filters, affordably and without the hassle of myself buying on Taobao? can an agent do it for me?

alternatively, can anyone recommend an hepa air purifier for a small bedroom? my only requisite is i hope it comes with a 3 pin plug and is very quiet.

any help is greatly appreciated!

There are no affordable avenues of buying Xiaomi 2 now. China folks themselves are willing to pay 1.35k RMB for ex-stocks. 1.2k for Xiaomi 1.

I think the best is still the Samsung AX40 from Happy Mall. See if anyone can spare you a qoo10 $50 voucher, since there is no timesale now. It's very silent for the high airflow.

$50 cart voucher (minimum spending $300) now no more. But can try $100 voucher draw using collected champagnes (voucher minimum spending $500). Having the new year event going on.

As discussed before, fake 3M masks.

Uvex so far so good, not high vol. At most is near expiry date or something nia, not much of an issue with haze.

have to agree it's a decent buy. think the Koreans have improved much with design and technology in recent years. their electrical appliances are more reliable now.

Anyone know if the fu-y30 hepa filter can fit in the kc-930? The dimensions are just a few mm bigger. Anyone tried before?

Supposed to be the same filter model, as displayed at the side panel sticker. Sharp AP models 30, 31 and 930, no LED light indicator, with LED light indicator, with LED light indicator and water tank respectively.

i'm still jio-ing people to get together to order for Xiaomi v1 and/or v2 (and filters, of course).

recently busy... gearing up for next round of haze...sianz....

by the way, for those of you who are interested in the particulate counters, WCLH isn't selling any more of the older all-acrylic case unit anymore - the hardy one that takes knocks... only got the G1/G3/G5 TFT LCD units and the Hammer and a new B5S...

Someone was asking if the Jackie Aircon foam cleaner is toxic since it's used on the aircon and so would vapourise the contents.

That is a fair point. I finished cleaning 3 FCUs and "acid tested" it with my TVOC meter right at the aircon FCU's output. (forget about in-room testing bah... lol)

However, don't expect the cheap TVOC meter to detect every chemical out there. :s13:

PS. For me, I also rinse with water with the Panasonic oral irrigator.

u use what meter to detect? Can detect formaldehyde ?

Formaldehyde CH20 is a type of VOC. It should show up in the TVOC reading. About S$40

Mine is just a very simple meter with a simple sensor that probably can show if there are VOCs in the room and differentiate between a low and high (dangerous) level. ie open windows = 0.000.
3 drops of alcohol in the living+dining room w windows closed, fan to mix the air around.....within 10 seconds it tells you that there is a problem. :s13: In fact no need 3 drops, 1 drop is enough to show the spike. It is sensitive, but not precision, which is unknown and presumably quite off the mark. I do not expect it to be precise in the first place, just reasonably usable for "home use" is OK liao. Coz in most homes there is no VOC issue.

Of coz, this is not to say that my meter captures everything. I also have laser particle counters and a CO2 meter, which is not really applicable in this case.

I just finished cleaning 3 of the FCUs with JAckie Aircon foam cleaner and TVOC meter right at the output of the aircon FCU @ low fan speed, it can detect 0.8-0.9xx mg/m3 of TVOC immediately after washing. After 5 mins, it could not detect anything, ie 0.000 mg/m3. This is right at the output of the aircon FCU.

Here is a test report in a China home (!!), with a usd 3k meter.

In this case, my scientific curiosity cost me $3,542 for this Industrial Scientific Ibrid MX6. It detects VOCs, carbon monoxide, sulfur dioxide, hydrogen sulfide, and nitrogen dioxide. It uses a photo-ionization detector to measure VOCs from 0-2,000 parts per million with a resolution of .1.
