is the a good or bad thing? please help shed some light, kamsia :)
600 over dollars buy 2 ax40 lah. :s13:

any particular post that has the info? 500+ pages is no joke!
Not that i know of but WRX bro did mention that efficiency will drop once the electrostatic plate is dirty and due to the design, there's always bypass of particles especially when the airflow is high.

Now the above is all iirc, so don't quote me.

For the actual post ah, I don't keep track so can't help you with that.

Great gonna add to cart and check out soon

As for the filter from Goni, not sure if I should give them the benefit of doubt. If I cancel I will have some money stuck there since I used a giftcard to pay

I'm thinking, the running cost of expendables on a HEPA style AP is gonna stack up over time.. and the thing that i don't like about that is that the environment cost of it is just continually increasing... buy and throw away.. no end. and once the filter dimensions change, i'm screwed.

just like how laser printers, the makers keep on coming up with new shapes for toner cartridges and force people into planned obsolesce...

this other model i am looking at is rated 12W, the AX40 is 34W... wouldn't it all add up over time? AX40 run one hour, in a closed room i run the other for 3 hours... i may have equivalent results for the same power consumption even if it's say, 80+% efficiency and air flow rate?

You have to consider the fact that electrostatic plates aren't very efficient. :s22:

AX40's power consumption isn't actually close to the rated power draw, I believe someone here tested at high using stock AC+HEPA before. :s12:

Filter size can always customise and get from taobao, no need worry.

As to throwing away filters, can't be helped unless Indon stop burning... :s22:

It's a vicious cycle lah. :s22:

The CADR of electrostatic units per unit volume is much lower VS HEPA units.

So, not surprised the wattage is lower, noise is lower...etc.

Space is at a premium in Singapore anyway.

And you'd need to wipe clean the collector plates every 3 days or so under current conditions.

I had a Trion.

Have you seen the A80 or AX60?

There was a Winix 5300 for S$250 then, befoe Sep 15 still available @ Metro..etc. CADR 425 m3/hr dust and 400 m3/hr tobacco smoke.

A bit power sucking though, I believe it's 60 watts. But well it is or rather was available locally.

Also got a 5500 with remote, $299.

I've bought a SDL607 air quality monitor which has not been mentioned in the thread. So I thought I add this small review to your unofficial database of air quality monitors.

- Size: 3inch x 3inch x 0.6inch
- Power: Battery, USB-charged. 12hour (Real-time sampling), 30 hours (5-minute interval)
- Accuracy: Subjectively, imho, it over-reads about 20% compared to NEA hourly PM2.5.
- Data download: Via USB port into propriety software. Saves as text or excel file.

My comments:
Smallest monitor that I could find. Solid build quality. Easily pocketable. Air-vents conveniently located to 1 side (top). Idiot-proof to operate, with only 1 switch that toggles:
1. PM2.5
2. PM2.5 & PM10
3. Real-time chart (quite useless on a tiny OLED screen)
4. 5-minute sampling for long battery life.
5. Hold down to On/Off

That's all. Keep up the good work. Back to lurking for me. Thanks.

ah thank you for your feedback...!

i don't mind the labour... also planning for "peacetime" where we don't have SHTF situations...so the running cost is one thing on my mind, along with discarding stuff again and again.... carbon footprint big
