Hi,
I am helping my parents with a simple setup to access mewatch using a non-smart tv. Also thinking of the mibox but they will not know how to cast from a phone - if this is the only way to access using mibox.
How about the newly launched mi tv stick?
Advice any bro? Thank you.
Just to share that my review on Mi TV Stick after using it for two weeks.
Setup/Installation - Very straightforward. Fuss free. Fumbled a bit on the HDMI-CEC option but after some trials with the TV/AVR, everything runs smoothly. Also played with Talkback option, thinking it may be helpful for the old folks who may not read every chinese characters. However, turned it off eventually. A bit too much info when i practically reads out every line you click or scroll. Tried Google Assistant (In Chinese). Nice and will teach them how to use it to search for videos in youtube. I could not get the remote to pick up "Ok Google", not sure why but it is okay. Tried a short while Chinese (HK), Cantonese. Noted that it works on mobile but on on TV. Is Chinese (Taiwan), Hokkien btw?
Navigation/Performance - Smooth. They are not going to be heavy users, only use it to watch youtube. Not into gaming or 4K contents. Installed the 4D/toto app. I could not find any other app that will interest them. : ( Hopefully Mediacorp can come up with Mewatch one day. Meanwhile, noted that their youtube channel also have some limited contents (Luo Ming Yi, Little Nyonya, etc)
Home menu - Removed/disabled the defaults - Play store (game/music), amazon prime, netflix, facebook watch, etc.
Brought up the 3 youtube channels (Recommended, Subscribed and Trending) to the homepage. It will be nice if i can also bring in "Watch later". Why? Because when i find good videos, i can save them to "Watch later" remotely (via the same google account) and they can access it easily, no need to navigate to the "Watch later" sub-sub page which they cannot locate.
Dislike - The netflix and amazon prime buttons on the remote.
Appreciate all the sharing in this thread : )
