strangely, I just realized that my YouTube location was set to Netherlands! I don't recall changing this setting in YouTube nor anywhere else. no wonder I was seeing Dutch ads!!!
I have changed it back to sgp. but the mewatch error still persist.
kind of worrying now if my account have been hacked. ) :

seems like problem is isolated to the mibox because I do not have issue watching (and casting) live TV on mewatch from my mobile phone.

what is the model no?
most of the time, if you have problem after os upgrade, doing a factory reset will clear the problem.
I can't remember there is an enabling location using wifi option.
by the way, somewhere in the setup process it is asking you for a country, enter usa will do, it has nothing to do with location. it is for setting of wifi parameter.
for mewatch, you have to install it from the box's playstore.

resorted to factory reset and problem seems to have gone away. thanks for your help.

btw, do you know where I might be able to get ES file explorer? I use it primarily to transfer apk file from phone to mibox.

many sites have it -- apkpure, uptodown... etc.

don't get the latest. better to use version lower than 4.0

Hiya all

My UBox Gen 4 that I have been using for donkey years seems to have finally passed out on me. Can't power it. up. :(

Anyone have a good alternative to recommend?

I watch mainly movies and TV series (English & TVB) through apk apps.

But I also watch live TV programs (US news channels like CNN, Fox News, Discovery, Cartoon Network etc) through the in-built app from Unblock Tech.

Also, whatever the recommendation, can only buy online, or can go places like Sim Lim to buy?

Wanna get one TODAY as I can't live without TV for long. :ROFLMAO:

Thanks all ))

you usage needs only a plain android tv box that cost $30-$50. You wasted your money for ub4.

mibox s, mecool km2, chromecast with google tv hd are few boxes worth mentioning

there are plenty of free apps for watching movies and tv series, video quality is better than ub4's app.

live us news channels, discovery, CN... are easily available too. example: kodi with TV11, or TV111 addons

Thanks for the reply !

After reading this - https ://morebetter.sg/android-tv-box-singapore/

I would have chosen the mibox s but (can't believe it) it doesn't come with a LAN port for direct internet connection (!?). I still old school and believe direct LAN internet connection is still better and more reliable than WIFI. :D

So I have narrowed down my choices to Tanix TX6S, T95 and Mecool KM2.

Which would you all recommend and why your recommendation is better than the others.

Thanks )
the page you mentioned did not teach you how to choose a box, furthermore, it gives some false info. there are many good boxes not mentioned there.

by the way, many new generator tv box/ tv stick have just wifi. You don't need very good wifi set to get good streaming, just some info here: 30Mbps is good enough for netflix, disney, youtube 4k video. if you are only talking about 1080p or less, 10 Mbps is more than enough.

out of your three choice, I recommend mecool km2. reason: certified android tv os

suggest lazada because of return policy.

all boxes with android tv os can run mewatch. e.g mibox s, mecool km2/2+, chromecast with goolge tv..etc

just install from its playstore.

Hi guys, which will be the better choice?
Mi stick 4 K or Chromecast Google tv ?

read that both have the same specs.
Can’t decide which to get.
Since Google tv will be imported set, will there be any limitations ?

if you want to watch netflix, you must get a netflix certified box or tv.

if not, you are wasting your money paying for netflix , even if you can install netflix app on the tv, the video quality is poor.

netflix certified boxes are not expensive, less than $100 can get you a good box. connect the box to your TV.

My UB8 seems to be always hanging halfway after UB live playing for 15mins or keeps repeating the scene. Thinking of changing to mi box and use other apps.

Any advice on which apps to use for tvb/overseas live tv?

for china apps such as youku, iqiyi, tencent...what you need is a simple empty box. you can download the app from playstore or download the apk file from official sites and install. pay after you installed the app, however, some contents may not be able to view outside china due to copyright (even you paid the subscription.

suggest to go for google certified box because it gives you the options to install paid apps such as netflix, disney+, starhub+...etc
