my guess is that they only want to provide firmware to singtel subscribers. They don't want to support people Who bought the device from carousell or somewhere else.

If thats the case maybe Singtel should copy Cisco meraki and have firmware updates delivered to the equipment when the account it is associated with is registered with them. Else when contract is up or account is disassociated with the equipment you won't get any more updates.

Kind of like having to sign in with your Google account to get updates on your Android phone. Without it you can't update your apps from Google play

Either that or SingTel is nostalgic about the past where you have to call/mail the company and they sent you a software update via a CD or floppy disk

Wait... What kind of control freak policy is this that you have to give you NRIC to request for a firmware update?

This is 1984 distopian level kind of stuff

My issue is why does SingTel even need to implement this convoluted way to update a router firmware. Can't they be like everyone else and have the software update on its own or if they are lazy provide a update file to download instead of having to bug them every time they is a new firmware

without the account details, how to push to you?

if not, just wait for your turn in the queue during the mass update lor.

PDPA now doesn’t allow companies to ask for NRIC for trivial reasons.

I also need the new firmware but it shouldn’t be made as difficult as this to obtain.

Will collect the meshes later today. Hope the Askey meshes would be ok... didn't opt for a change to Airties.... But I haven't been able to see much reviews or advertising on Askey Meshes online *worried*

Hi ah_cleo,

Thanks for checking. We are happy to inform that you can plug the Airties into your router and it will be updated automatically according to the firmware update schedule.

Just an update: Have collected my Askey Meshes last week and the results were fantastic.

Comparing the Aztech powerline adapter VS the wireless (with mesh), the speed difference on wireless with mesh was at least 4 times better!!

Will be looking to head down to purchase another additional mesh cause as expected, my furthest room is still experiencing poor signals.

can confirm that all i need do is purchase from SingTel Shop, coz the fibre hotline dept claims they only have 4920 model
Thanks

Hi catzombie,

You can purchase an additional pair of WiFi Mesh 4930 units at any Singtel Shop.

It will cost you $15.00 per month and will be charged to your monthly bills for 24 months.

After 24 months, the WiFi Mesh 4930 units are yours to keep.

Hi guys,

Would the primary AirTies node work if it is connected via powerline to the main router? Thinking of doing this so that I can setup the mesh wifi for an area that can't get wifi from the main router. Thanks!

Hi, did you try this already? does it work.

How's the performance?

Can i check with you, once u set up the askey, do u disable the 2.4ghz and 5ghz wifi networks in the singtel router? I am using AC1900.

you have to disable the wifi on singtel router, unless the asked nodes are far away from your singtel router. reason being, no point having 2 separate wifi SSIDs when these 2 systems are close enough, you will get interference and poor wifi performance as such..

I have been using 3 Askey meshes (5-room flat) for the past 2 weeks, on the first 2 days the speed has been incredible.... but for the past week the speed dipped by quite a bit and am experiencing very high ping.

This applies to both my desktop computers at home (having great results at the start but getting very poor speed and high pings now). Is anyone else facing the same problem?
