Wonder why do you say it is not workable if you are also the account owner of IBKR?:s11: My main issue is more with when I need to make withdrawal later whether they have flexibility for me to direct the fund to another bank account.;)

haha, because i have not tried it and dont want to risk it

do u want try it and let us know, both transfer directly and withdrawal from TD? :)

Why not just make one deposit from the other bank account you are targeting to send your future withdrawals to? Once it is recognized by TDA as an account in your name, it shouldn’t be an issue later on.

Unless you are targeting to send withdrawals to an account that is not in your name - that will not be accepted for either deposits or withdrawals.

What kind of risks? There are no additional charges for inbound wires sent from a US based financial institution, even though they go through Wells Fargo as an intermediary.

The only tricky part is the “for further credit to” information which includes both the TDA account # and your account # back to back.

I’ve done multiple free wires from my US account at PNC and it went through fine, not a single cent was lost.

If for some reason the money disappear, it's harder to provide evidence and check from ur side

Like if ur uncle help u transfer, when something happen, u must check with him everything whereas if u have control of the account, u can easily check what happen quickly instead of going back and fro with IB customer service

Doesn’t that risk exist no matter which account you transfer from? How is it that u do not control your IB account? Is IB customer service worse or more difficult than a local bank here? I would expect any screw up to be painful and time consuming to resolve, no matter which account is involved. But that risk seems small.

When I had PNC do the wire, they mixed up two digits on the account number, but it still went through to the right account. I was amazed they have pretty smart systems in place to find and correct issues like that.

im talking about the bank account

if messed up, can call up local bank and ask what happen

if IB control the bank account from which it is transferred, then it is much harder and longer for this issue to be resolved than if u control the bank account urself

again, up to each person preferences...personally i dont mind paying TT charges to get piece of mind

PMed you.;)

Wanted to reply but my post count is still too low..Greatly appreciate the information. I actually signed up prior to your PM but luckily I selected "Friend" during sign-up. I saw the warning too:

Due to the launch of $0 commissions we are experiencing longer than expected account opening times

Hopefully it doesn't take too long.

I also see that we can deposit using SGD from DBS accounts (It's mentioned: Transfers can only be made payable in Singapore Dollar currency.)

Wonder whether the FX conversion rate is similar to google's rate :)

No worries. Happy to help. ;)I understand TDA has an arrangement on preferential ex rate for fund transfer. Not sure how this compares to Google's rate.

Anyone facing this "Username must be unique" issue when signing up? I can't seem to have a unique username despite trying different username.

Please PM me too if anyone interested in a 50/50 split of referral bonus. Thank you!

Use numbers like 12, etc at the end of the name. Thats wat i do.

TOS had a FAR better platform. Only downside is it cost $5 per stock transaction.

Their option cost of $1.50 is cheap enough.

IBKR is cheaper at as low as $1 per stock trans but their platform is not orderly lol.

For options, i strongly suggest using TOD as u can see your P/L easily, among other things like the greeks, etc.

For IBKR, u have to generate a report and each option is treated as a seperate counter, even if it is the same counter. U gotta calculate the P/L lol...takes a few mins.

There is no consolidation P/L for the IBKR even for the same counter.

occifer, you need to correct. Starting today, TDA is offering a commission free trade for US securities and $0.70 for option contract.

This is great news.
It works for thinkorswim too.
I juz checked.
This is great news.

They have to do this because charles schwab and robinhood has it.

If they dont, people will run away lol

Now, time to fund more money into my TOS
