waiver request is on ivr, it's automated. no need to wait for human to answer, unless you prefer speaking to punching dial keys. :)

Despite DBS's really excellent website for incoming ANZ cardholders, this unfortunately is a question that we need ANZ to answer.

I suspect the answer is yes, that we should choose the 5% category before June 25 for spends in July.

Optimum$s become POSB Daily$s on 25 July. That means, I believe, that the ANZ statement must be generated before this date.

So if you want your spending during July 1-xx to earn at the ANZ Optimum rates AND your statement generates before 25 July, then yes you should pick the category.

If i want to buy USS tickets, which category should i choose for the 5%?

No matter what the statement closing date is, it will still have partial statement. Unless statement closes exactly on the 25th.

In my case statement closes on 17th Jul. So I am guessing my spend between 18th to 25th Jul, if there is whole Optimum$ accumulated it will get accumulated. Only partial Optimum$ in decimal points is the question mark. If Optimum card was to run until the next statement date, we would have had the opportunity to earn more to complete the decimals to a whole optimum$. But since ANZ is pulling the plug on 25th Jul, they are denying us that opportunity, so to be fair fair, they should transfer even decimal optimum$. Anyways, cents dont matter, I dont think anyone will care.

But yeah, selection of category is absolutely must no matter what the statement date is, otherwise you are giving them an opportunity to give 1% for all spend.

Edit: Actually the significance of the date of 25th Jul is only for the redemption of Optimum$. I think you can still continue earning Optimum$ from 26th Jul to 4th Aug. I dont see anywhere mentioned otherwise.

So your statement that Optimum$ become daily$ on 25th Jul is untrue. It becomes daily$ only on 5th Aug or may be even later, before your POSB statement gets generated.

Limited response.

https://sg.anz.com/onlineapp/faces/optimum_rewards/redemption.jsp says:

Your unused Optimum$ will be transferred to DBS for future usage if you choose not to redeem for Cash Rebates via the ANZ Rewards Programme before 24 July 2017.

Given this, spends after 25 July cannot earn Optimum$. It is not a rolling date for conversion.

I think this because they have not said that 25 July onwards, ANZ spends will continue to earn Optimum$s, and then there will be another date in the future when remaining Optimum$ will become DBS points. It is of course possible, but I suspect it is unlikely.

Given everything, I think the new DBS card will arrive or the conversion to an existing DBS card account will happen before 25 July. But even if people don't necessarily start using the new DBS card on this date, for all practical purposes the reward earning has to be under new DBS rules.

Again reading that statement, my interpretation, is the 25th July is the deadline only for redeeming and it has nothing to do with earning. So before 25th the redemption will work, after 25th redemption will not work. The significance of 25th is that they need the buffer from 25th to 5th to effect the redemption and credit to the ANZ optimum account, instead of the the DBS daily$ account. If you miss the 25th deadline then your optimum dollar will continue accumulating and on 5th Aug is the actual date when all the optimum$ not redeemed before 25th July will get converted to daily$.

Even though you will receive the POSB Everyday card before 25th July, you won't be able to use it before the cut off date of 5th Aug.

Your card will arrive unactivated. Please only activate your new DBS/POSB card on or after the transfer date upon receipt of SMS from DBS with instructions on activation.

However, if you already hold the DBS/POSB card that matches with your existing ANZ card, then you won't receive a replacement card.

What if I already own the DBS/POSB card that my ANZ card will be matched to?

As you already hold the DBS/POSB card that your ANZ card is matched to, we will transfer your ANZ outstanding card balance to a new DBS card account opened for the payment of your outstanding balance. This account is not for further transactions. Your ANZ Rewards Points/Travel$/Optimum$ will be transferred to your existing DBS/POSB Card.

So basically they will create a new temporary account to pay off your ANZ balance, if you already have a POSB Everyday card. So you POSB card will remain as it is, except that the daily$ will be added.
