Still ok as a card that don't have minimum spending and covers niche areas like hotels. But must be wary of the annual fee. They have re-instated my cancelled card, but I still waiting to see if the optimum$ is reinstated also.

it gives unlimited optimum points per month, in blocks of $600, even thou it will be rounded down to the nearest whole number.
This is perfect for my business trips, whereby i can book my tickets, hotels and transportation separately.

noob here

based on below TnC, i know for spending on supp card, the optimum$ will go into principal card holder account.
18. All Optimum$ will be credited to the Card Account of the Principal Cardmember. Retail Spend debited and posted to the account of all Supplementary Cardmembers will be taken into consideration and attributed to the Principal Cardmember.

but for the $100 sign up gift, is the principal card holder entitled for sign up gift if the $488 spending is done under the supp card too? anyone tried/experienced before?

its better to read the T&C for this... usually signup gifts are only for the principal card. or just call ANZ to check

Only retail transactions charged to the Credit Cards are qualifying card spend (“Qualifying Card Spend”). Ongoing instalment plans, cash advance, balance transfer, and any other fees howsoever called, including but not limited to, annual fees, cash advance fees, interest and late fees are excluded from the calculation of the Qualifying Card Spend. Retail charges debited and posted to the account of any Supplementary Cardmember will be taken into consideration and awarded to the Principal Cardmember.

Annual fee waived as of yesterday. Phew!

Sent from Sony D5833 using GAGT

Did you speak to an associate for the fee waiver? Yesterday my statement got generated and I saw the $180 fee. I called up the number and used the IVR and requested for fee waiver and didnt speak to anyone. The IVR said I will get an SMS in 5 days about the decision.

Meanwhile I just recieved my HSBC revolution card, I need to spend $600 in a month to get a 65" Samsonite bag and $20 cash credit. So for next 1 month I am anyways going to put my ANZ optimum card to rest. If they refuse to waive off the annual fee, then I will cancel the card and use the HSBC card as my main card, it gives me 5X points on dining, my main spend. My Citi SMRT is my groceries and Ezlink ATU card. I dont like cards with min spend per month, so I am avoiding all those cards with min monthly spend. Also I dont like more than 2 or 3 active cards at any point in time, and inactive cards I cancel them, just to keep the tracking simple.

My Current cards:
1)OCBC Robinsons(used only when there is John Little/Robinsons expo in Singapore Expo, I live in Tampines :) )
2)Citi SMRT used by my wife for groceries shopping at fairprice and also EZlink ATU for both my wife and my card
3)ANZ Optimum for mainly Dining and all other spend.

First week May - call in to request for waiver.
Second week May - no response after 5 working days, dial in and get automated voice for waiver.
Third week May - went down to ANZ bank at Raffles to ask what the hell is going on
2 days ago - Waived!

hey ive also signed up HSBC revo card to get luggage too, but I don't think the points is very worth it eh. For example 10000 points can be exchanged for $40 worth of travel vouchers, assuming you spend in the 5x category, you will need to spend $2000 to accumulate 10k points, 40/2000*100 = 2%. this is way below what the optimum card can offer you. why dont you look at the BOC card instead

Anz optimum has no min spending.
the $opt is capped at 30 points per single $600 transaction.

So if you spend $20, you get 1 $opt for the chosen caregory

Must the $600 be online or retail spend?

I used my OCBC Robinsons cc at Expo lately but no discount? :s11:

Is payment at a hotel for hotel stay considered dining or travel? Confused

If you book a Hotel directly through the official hotel's website or directly over the hotel counter, then it is considered under "Dining"

If you book through travel agency or travel website like Agoda, Hotel.com, Booking.com, Expedia, Zuji, then its considered under "Travel"

;)

$600 is any type of spend other than fees.

The Robinson's card gets you 5% cash back which is immediate, when you spend at Robinson's or John Little. See your statement you will find it.

Yes, I agree compared to ANZ Optimum the HSBC is not worth it, but this is my backup plan in case, ANZ refuse to waive off my fees.

BOC card will probably be my next card to apply. I think BOC, Maybank and CIMB are the only 3 remaining cards that I have not applied. I have applied and canceled all other cards, HSBC, this is the 3rd time I am applying, lol. DBS 2 times. Citi 2 times. Stanchart 1 time. OCBC 1 time. UOB 1 time.
