Nice! Thanks Henabi! Amazing how both merchant and ANZ doesn't know but the internet does! ************************************

well... iirc the MCC is determined by credit card companies like Visa, Mastercard, Diner and Amex.

as mcc isn't something which is widely advertised and shared, the vast majority still think that the banks are the ones which issues these mcc and they should know about it.

the mcc code given to a business or store is based on the very first time the business starts accepting one of these cards as a form of payment.

A very practical example: Cafes, Bars, Restaurants
The common mcc codes are 5811, 5812 and 5813
5811- Caterers
For: Caterers, Restaurants, Bars

5812- Eating Places, Restaurants
For: Caterers, Restaurants, Bars

5813- Drinking Places
For: Caterers, Restaurants, Bars

For shops selling watches, the mcc code should be 5094 or 5944

tbh, I have my own excel containing the mcc codes for each of my credit cards. these mcc codes are mainly the shops I have used my credit cards before.

Could consider adding add what you know into the HWZ google docs so we can crowdsource and share the info.

I was wondering if Qoo10 (online), those electronic store like challanger is under the category of shopping. Any one can advice ?
If not choose shopping but only get 1% instead of 5%. that is the key different.

Hi, can the folks who have the travel option confirm whether AirBnB qualify for the 5% rebate? I was previously awarded 5% but my transaction from a few days back was credited with 1% instead. Anyone can confirm? Thanks.

The last time I used it in October last year, I got 5%. But note that Airbnb forces you to pay in the currency of the country your credit card is issued. This is considered S$ processed overseas. Most banks charge 1% for this, but ANZ charges 2.5%.
