My annual fee has been waived off. So my card lives for another year. Actually I calculated the total rebate I got on this card, including the initial $110 new card promotion is $230. Why would I pay $180 annual fee to earn such a low amount in rebates.

maybe thats why you got the fee waiver when some other people who spend a llot more didn't manage to get it :s13:

After the amount is reflected in your I-banking account, give ANZ a call to check

If I selected shopping category, it stated that 5% at fashion boutiques and online fashion stores.

If I spend the amount in jewelry (purchase wedding rings) stores, am I still entitled for the 5% rebate?

You can apply dbs black card, there is 5% cashback for jewellery. Require min $700 spending, rebate capped at $70 ($1400 spending)

read in the TODAY newspaper that ANZ singapore has been laying out workers since Feb this year...

could this be one of the contributing factors for credit card waiver rejections in the past few months?

Wow. Gonna quickly spend to hit the $50 Optimum dollar and then cancel this card.

Sidenote: Their shares are doing pretty well, though :s22:

just noticed you can only redeem in the blocks of $50 Optimum, and $90/$180 for annual fee waiver?

$49 also can't redeem?

IF this is the case, better to give up to use the card.

it really depends on your usage pattern, the plus point is there is no min spend for this card, and no cap on how much rebate u could earn each month. a lot of credit cards have options to use points (or in this case, optimum$) for fee waiver, that doesn't mean it is the only way to waive the annual fee. evidently a lot of bros here are able to get their annual fee waived off.

as for the "$49 also can't redeem?" part, i kindly agree with u it is tedious, but with careful planning nearing the end of your annual cycle (incase fees cant be waived off), it isnt too hard to achieve.

Yup, it you spend in the 5% category quite regularly, it isn't hard to hit $50 in 1-2 months. I did it for the Q1 2016 in the groceries category and in Q4 2015 in the travel category (coincided with a long overseas trip).

What is the difference between dining and card dining?

I thought all dining is 5% for ANZ Optimum? :s22:

well... certain restaurants which is listed under far card and Palate Dining, offers 50% discount for 2-pax dining.

for me, 50% discount is more worthwhile then the 5% cashback

Yes the min monthly spend on credit cards make me do crazy things and buy things that I don't need to buy.

I have applied for the HSBC Revo card with min spend in 1st month of $600 gives me a luggage bag. To meet this spend I spent my Saturday morning going to pwc building to prepay the sp services bill using the credit card. They allow only 2 months average bill advance payment, in addition to current bill. They allowed me to charge $300.
