ANZ weekend flashsale (extended till 16 Oct):

guys, I just received a mail to register for the above and then I realised that it's only for the first 3000 members who registered and make 3 online spend between Fri to Sun during the promotion period. If it means 3000 from the start of the promotion period (29 Jul) then I think can forget it. Or did I interpret it wrongly?

Hello guys,

I will be travelling to Amsterdam for 2 weeks in October. I am planning to use ANZ optimum as my primary card as dining will be my chosen category for 5% and also dining will be my major spend over there apart from public transport. I am pretty sure, no other card cant beat this for overseas spend. Still want to check with you guys, if I am missing any card?

Cheers!

Cimb visa signature for 10% rebate on dining. Need min 8× $30 and min $500, 10% rebate capped at $60. Also 1.4% of the foreign currency exchange fee reimbursed so effectively only 1% fee. Net 9% rebate as opposed to (5%-2.5%) 2.5% on anz optimum.

Can also use CIMB platinum master for 10% rebate on travel (eg hotel, flight), health and beauty. Same spending requirement and cap and fees as CIMB visa signature.

There is currently also sign up bonus for new customers signing min 2 new cimb cards and meet min spending. The tnc not so clear though, discussed here http://forums.hardwarezone.com.sg/credit-cards-line-credit-facilities-243/cimb-visa-signature-4821826-34.html

But they use the same card machine for normal dine in. So my qn is how they know I'm paying for wedding banquet?

I think many bank have this "wedding banquet" exclusion is due to the fact that majority of the banquet here in Singapore are hosted effectively under the same hotel management which houses them. Therefore, the charges falls under hotel (and possibility under travel) and not dining. The clause is to prevent possibility of misunderstanding arising from it.

I would say ban heng is one of very few "standalone" actual restaurant that cater to wedding banquet and therefore, it should also be considered as dining category. Like you said, they used the same terminal for charges so from bank point of view, you are just buying everyone in the hall a dinner for the night!

Well the dining and leisure category for this card covers both dining and hotel, so don't think the reason is to prevent understanding.

REMINDER: Remember to choose the category for your next quarter by 25 sep.

Need to select category even if staying on the same category. If not then no 5% category for the next quarter (unless you applied the card in jul to sep 2016, then if no category is chosen, the category for the next quarter follows that of your current quarter).

Thanks Trazora for the reminder. Can only call in via their ANZ credit number to change the category?

if i'm paying for hotel stay overseas, and i chose the dining/hotel category, will i get 5% rebate for the stay?

If it's $1300 SGD, i should spilt the purchase into 2x $600 + 1x $100 SGD?
