I haven’t book an appt yet. But just worried something like that may happen. Not the refurbished set but the older model replacement.

This is Apple you're talking about, they won't offer you an older model for sure. They will likely upgrade you whatever newer refurb model they have on hand if they damage your phone beyond repair.

i had my iphone X battery replaced for free at apple orchard two years++ ago which after that i never use the phone until last week. for just 1 week+ of usage, my battery capacity from 100% drops to 97% now... wt fish....

All batteries naturally degrade even if you don't use them, 2 years is a long time in storage.

Thanks for the reply. Is it true that if they don't have a battery replacement for the phone, they will replace with a refurbished set or something?

They won't replace with an older version of the phone right? For mine is iPhone 6s.. Would they replace with an iPhone 5 or something?

If you bother to click the link to Apple website which I shared, you can see iPhone 6S is still one of the models available for battery replacement. If no ready stock they will tell you need to wait a few days or maybe 1 week for the stock to come in.

Don’t bother getting your hopes up for replacement set or refurbished set. Such cases are rare and usually happens only under unique circumstances like the technician accidentally messed up your phone during the repair/replacement and cannot remedy. If such a case occur, they will offer you the closest available model to your current model, likely the same model, or it could be worse model (unlikely) or better model.

The battery replacement cost at apple not say significantly more expensive than 3rd Party. So will say.

Yeah, 71% is very bad, $75 not expensive for a peace of mind battery replacement and the 7 is still a good enough phone. Btw there's no iPhone 7S, only 7/Plus or 8.

If you are sending it to Apple, I wouldn't be too worried about it.

For 3rd Party... Unless you are some prominent person, I doubt they will bother too much about it also, but then again, depending on how paranoid you are.

If you send to Apple, Apple will test to make sure it is working fine before releasing it to you. If it does not pass their test and they can't rectify it, they may do whole unit replacement. So always backup before you go replace.

They also provide 90 days warranty post replacement.

I don't recall having to give Apple my passcode to replace the battery. Should be good enough protection, they ain't gonna crack a 6 digit passcode in 2 hours.
*I trust the official Apple store, i defo don't trust a 3rd party with my phone out of my sight.

iirc e  staff just told me to disable “Find My” then after about 2hrs got e phone back. of course to play safe always backup before u head down
