Need to reset the system. Price everything out of reach, market crashes GV exits. Burn everything to the ground. Malls shut down. Then reset and start from lower base again.

Haven't been to cinema for a very long time since they practiced cartel price rise long time ago. Glad some cinema chains are dying, orbi good.

Don't Close all so soon, I m still waiting for my retirement and able to go for a show at senior discount price.

I think there are about 20+ cinemas here now? Maybe will drop to about 10+ in 5 years time...

But it depends more on the operator rather than the amount of cinemas. WE and Cathay closed down in 2024 and 2025. Only GV and Shaw remains. If GV were to exit the industry, there will be less than 10 cinemas left.

Shaw can survive because they own the mall their theaters are located in - LIDO, especially.

Foreigners will likely find the cinema ticket too expensive if they come from countries like Malaysia, Indonesia, Vietnam, China, India, Bangladesh, Myanmar. So they are not a big market, if at all.

Singaporeans? Why do you think Junior Colleges, Secondary Schools, and Primary Schools either closed down or merged?

Most locals are elderly. They don't go to cinema anymore. During our younger days say, 45-50 years ago, cinemas were places we went on dates, often to do the sinful thing when the lights were off.

1 day, cinema industry will exit sg entirely.

Here psf rent alrdy $5 psf minimum. Cinema easily 5000sqft. Jb mayb 50cents rm psf cos their land is big.

Not only cinema, golf, bowling, billard oso may exit 1 day due to space needs.

Give up bah.
