I/m looking at YHT S401 but due to the fact that I've got so many things to hook up to the sound bar like, miotv, cabletv, 3d blu ray player and ps3. I think S401 only offers 3 HDMI right? So how to solve this issue?

Was considering a Yamaha soundbar as a replacement for aging AV amp (denon -- no HDMI) and satellite speakers (definitive tech) and to declutter the mess of wires around the TV console table.

BUT I prefer to have a headphone jack for late late night solo movie nights and I realised too late that my recent TV purchase (LG LCD TV) doesn't have a headphone jack and most of the Yamaha soundbars, except for YHT S401, don't have a headphone jack.

So is there a simple solution or should I just replace the AV amp with a new one with HDMI and forget about decluttering and sound bars???

Hi,

I would recommend you to replace just the AV Receiver. If you very used to listening on a traditional 5.1 setup, maybe soundbar will not suits your preference.

Hi Louis,

If you find 3 x HDMI Inputs are not sufficient, get an traditional 5.1 System with a AV Receiver that offers more HDMI Inputs.

That simple.

I'm using old yamaha old 5.1 system with a receiver but its pretty old with no HDMI input. The reason of changing my speakers is because I wanna clear up those messy wires in my room. Hence, I decided to go for Soundbar. Can I connect 3 hdmis to the soundbar and the extra 1 hdmi to the tv? But the connection between the tv and soundbar, I will be using their HDMI ARC connection. Is this possible?

Hi Louis,

It is possible. But we won't be able to tell why is there no sound from ARC input assuming if the setup didn't work as what you plan for.

Else, you might wanna consider to go for higher models such as YSP-3300 with 4 x HDMI Inputs.

Hi Robert,

For standalone AV Receiver, we do not have promotional price.
If you ask about packages, we do have them listed in below.

For Phono inputs, you are right. Only RX-A820 and above models will have Phono Input.

Hi Yamaha,

May I know if i watch a bluray movie, where it came with DTS-HD audio.

1) Did YSP-4300 soundbar recognized the sound setting? I found the orange light in surround indicator appeared on the soundbar and from the manual describe the orange light is "Surround audio signal other than above"
I had checked the DTS-HD audio should be under blue light group but appeared in orange light group. Its made me confused the setting.

2) Should I enable CinemaDSP if i watch bluray movie with 7.1 audio? I had tried to enable the CinemaDSP, I found the decorder was set to Dolby PLII. Would it downgrade the audio quality?

Please advise.

Since you prefer to have a sound bar set-up, with a living room layout like that, yes, a YHT-S401 is able to do the job. But you may want to consider our range of Digital Sound Projectors since they have better sound quality.

Hi!

From your questions, i realized that the problem you're facing is due to the settings from the blu-ray player. When the orange light is indicated, it means that it is only playing in 5.1 surround sound.

To solve this, you have to change the audio output settings from the blu-ray player. Once you have placed in and play the blu-ray disc, go to the settings from the menu and change it to DTS-HD audio 7.1

This should change the surround indicator to blue.

I bought a set of YSP-4300 soundbar. For the first few days, the soundbar having problem on HDMI connection. The shop had replaced a new set to me since it is still within 7 days. 1 week later, the sub-woofer having intermittent connection to soundbar. I thought of strong wind to interrupt the connection. But I was wrong, lucky it is heavy rain, I close the balcony windows. Then I am really discovered the sub-woofer having intermittent connection either I play radio or TV programs.

I just received the set less than 3 weeks, then having this kind of problem. I am really think how reliable the products is!!!

Your support had asked me to send the whole set to service centre. Under lemon law, I think I need a compensation on this!!!

Yes. YHT-S401 supports USB charging for iPhone / iPad and music playback over USB connection from iOS Device too.

Regarding your problem:
1. May i know where you made your purchase from?
2. Who determine the first set problem of HDMI was a genuine product defect? Was that the Dealer who determine? Or Yamaha Service Centre determine?
3. In regards to your current problem over Wireless Connectivity, try following if it works.

Can you to use group ID: C1, C2 or C3?
Default group ID setting is A1 but C1, C2 or C3 has better tolerance
against interference. (This group C is new for this YSP series)

4. Lastly, All Yamaha products are Carry-In Warranty. Under Singapore Lemon Law, a consumer can ask for compensation through legal means. If you are intending to ask for a compensation, please seek for legal advice and i will hand your case to our legal department.

So do let me know if Group C ID works better for you. Also you may wish to consider to relocate your subwoofer. Every wireless technologies has limitation on the wireless distance capability, be it Bluetooth or Yamaha AirWired technology, if having too long distance is a problem, we recommend you to place closer.

No sound from YHT-S401

Hi

When I connect my PC to YHT-S401, there is no sound, only the image. Once a while, I get the sound when I restart the PC. There is no problem with Mio and starhub tv.

What could be the reason? I have changed the HDMI and the problem is still there.

Hi bro,

That is very likely to be your PC Audio settings. Please ensure the audio output is choose correctly. If all other source works, then you need check your PC source settings.

Hi, i am having a problem with my dsp-z7.
the sound level is getting lower.
is there any setting i need to do ??
coz when i bought the set 3 yrs ago, the sound level i need to set is about 30. but now sometimes even when turn down to 20, it is still not too loud.
can someone please help me??
