Hi,
Recently I bought the YSP 2200. I tried to perform the auto setup calibration using the mircophone. The error code 6 shows on the screen. I tried to unplug and try again but still fail. Any advise?

Another concern I think is the shape of the room. If lucky enough to have a squarish or rectangular room at least the sound waves can bounce off the walls quite uniformly.

But if the room is an odd shape such as the pic below, is it still any point getting a sound bar? The living room is very long and if you don't close the bedroom's sliding door, it become an L shape with very long l

Hi Ah Tay

Error code 6 is shown because volume level is lower than expected. You may wish to increase the volume of the of the bar.

Do also note that the best setting may not be done if you are in the room. Prepare to leave the room in 10 seconds after you have connected the IntelliBeam microphone to the bar and the “AUTO SETUP (PREPARATION & CHECK)” screen is displayed.

Hope this solves your problem

Cheers!

Hi eBuddy,

We have not officially launched the YHT-299 in Singapore yet. You may wish to pm me your contact so we can inform you once it is launched.

The difference between YHT-298 and YHT-299 is the AV Receiver itself. YHT-298 is using receiver: HTR-3065, where YHT-299 is using receiver: HTR-3066.

For recommendation of 5.1 systems below $1k, you may consider the following:

Hope this helps.

Hi Derrick,

At the end of the day, you should zoom down to only one question for yourself.

Do you wish to lay cable for a better surround effects and use a better box speakers for more dynamics in movie and music experience?

If all these is a hassle for you, you shouldn't even have this concern of your room layout for a bar type of product. If these is not a problem right from the start, no one will recommend you to seek for a bar solution.

Give a thought about it bro.

Cheers!

Hi YamahaSG,

I've tested the microphone at courts showroom. Their YSP 2200 set also shows error code 6 issues. I guess the mic is faulty.

Hi,
I bought the set at courts mega store. 1 week later, the mic fails me. I called up the Yamaha Technical support but they doesn't have the equipment to test out, so they suggested me to test at the showroom. The Yamaha sales personnel over there is very nice and allow to let me test out my microphone. As they get the same error code on their set, they advise me to contact the Yamaha service centre. I went down to the centre and was told to make a purchase as there is no warranty for the mic even when bought it new out of the box. The mic is not expensive so I already made the order. When the mic arrive, they will contact me for collection. Hopefully the new mic doesn't break down so easily. Anyway thanks for the reply.

Hi YamahaSG,
I currently living in a 4 room flat and I wish to put a HT without TV in one of the rooms, I listen to CDs and MP3s from my PC with quite a good sound card (Sound Blaster X-Fi Elite Pro with a I/O box). Could recommend me a customized HT system for this? Thanks. =:p

Hi bbenjt,

Since you are not using a TV, will you be using your PC for movie playback or gaming?

Do let me know.

Cheers!

I read from Ah_tay's post that there is no warranty for the mic and am quite surprised to hear this. Can Yamahasg confirm this?

This is totally unacceptable in my view as most people will need to use the mic for calibration in the initial setup. I am now considering whether if I should proceed to trade in my YSP2200 for YSP 3300/4300 locally.

I don't regret getting the 2200. The sound quality and features are very good for me, is just that depends on your luck whether you get a good set or not. And I agreed, the support service is a bit negative. Without the mic, can still do with the manual. I need the mic because as a newbie, I need some reference to fine tuning it.
