Hi, I had rectified the Check SP Wires issue. One of my surround speaker wires is loose. Thanks so much.

However, the static noise still exist as and when. The dealer had checked and told me that it is the Yamah AVR that is faulty. Isn't it supposed to be replaced with a new unit rather than sending in for repair, as I just got AVR and the static noise exists since day 1?

Hi Mr. Yamaha,

Like to ask your advice, do u ever come across yamaha YHT-S400 connect to Hatachi UT42-MX700A TV.

Hitachi TV quite special , has to connect to multimedia station via a HDMI cable.only one hdmi port from TV.... but multistation has 3 hdmi port and 2 RYB port cum analog port and optical digital sound port.

Therefore now TV > station > yamaha > Blueray.
This way blue ray playback has surround sound but no surround for TV.


If I put this way : TV > Yamaha > station & blueray, my tv & blueray got surround but no picture as TV source come from station.

any way to solve this??? unless my starhub go do HDMI or by optical cable?
hope to use HDMI for my tv. don't want to buy optical cable.

I had no idea about the Hitachi Tv you currently own.

Let's try this.

You mentioned "multimedia station" i guess it was a TV Tuner. All your sources like BD Player / DVD Player / HubStation / PS3 will go thru that TV Tuner if you do not own a Yamaha right?

If yes, your connection of HDMI should be as follow:

Sources > Yamaha > TV Tuner > TV

If you want your TV to have audio playback from Blu-ray Player while you wish to turn-off the Yamaha, please turn on the HDMI Control settings.

Do you have any showrooms for your home theatre systems at Paya Lebar? I would like to make a trip down on Tuesday (25 Oct 2011) to take a look with plenty of questions, if possible. Reason I'm asking is because I went to two different places over the weekend to ask about Yamaha home theatre systems based on my current home set-up. One wasn't quite sure about the products' performance, the other wasn't even willing to explain the products' features and performance. After all, a consumer ask questions to find out more information that the website couldn't. Honestly, I wasn't even playing difficult to the salesperson.

Anyway, do let me know whether it is possible tomorrow.

Checking with you

Hi Mr Yamaha,

I just bought a soundbar from Best Denki at one of their outlets, but as it was a display set, I did not manage to get all the accessories, such as the calibration microphone. I have set up the system, and have tried the soundbar but I can only see video but not hear any sound. May I ask if I need to do the initial setup with the calibration microphone before the sound would come out? All points are connected by HDMI cables.

The outlet where I got the soundbar from have found the accessories for me and I would be picking them up, but I just want to be sure that the soundbar needs setting up and not that there is any fault in the system.

The model of my soundbar is YSP-2200.

Appreciate any advie that you may have for me. Thank you.

realised that the audio channel of my DVD player has not been enabled through HDMI, have done it and solved my issue. Cheers.

Bro Yamaha might be out of town. i'm also waiting for his reply for my enquiry.

The microphone is crucial for the calibration of beam and sound to achieve the best surround effect based on your room configuration.

Mine also ysp series but not 2200. Still got sound without calibration.

Is there anything thats different between them besides the driving power and tuner? That is, is there any difference if i use the R-S500 in place of A-S500, say, as an integrated amplifier?

Thanks for your query.

A-S500 has better Hi-Fi quality then R-S500 for sure due to it doesn't have built-in Tuner like R-S500. It depends on your purpose in this scenario.

If your setup is to start entry-level Hi-Fi Setup for good stereo musics, A-S500 is way to go.

If your setup is to have all functions, more then Stereo HiFi Setup, i trust R-S500 is a better choice for you.

Hope it clears your doubt.

What is your planned setup maybe you can share so we could advise you correctly which model to look at.

Thanks alot for your prompt reply! Sorry that you got to entertain a noob like me. I am looking at a low budget setup for a very small room, which is linked to my PC. I have got a audio-gd DAC for my PC purposes, which has an integrated amp inside to drive small speakers (sansui speakers for now). However, i am currently looking at the mordaunt short carnival 2 or aviano 2 bookshelf speaker, which is rated up to 100W, something i believe my DAC/amp unit cannot drive. For that reason i am looking around for a integrated amp (using back the audio-gd DAC).
For now i am quite undecided to be honest, as the R-S500 is cheaper than the A-S500, for abit less driving power, but with tuner. That tuner may come in handy in the future i guess. My room is very very small, so i don't need much power. So i am abit undecided as the R-S500 seem to have more features for a lower price. This is a budget system mah, so trying to make each buck count. Is there somewhere i can audition the difference between the 2? If the A-S500 sound quality is significantly better, i will definitely forgo the tuner function, whereas if the sound quality is marginally better, i may consider the R-S500.
Actually i have even thought of bringing the speakers down for testing with the amps.
So in summary, i guess the main question is, is the A-S500 sound quality significantly better than that of the R-S500?

A-S500 sure to sound better than R-S500.

Lastly, R-S500 is not cheaper than A-S500. Did the salesperson quoted you wrongly?
