Tested out the device at Funan. Keyboard is solid. It dun bend even when I apply pressure that you will not normally apply even when typing down hard.
Can feel the bottom a bit warm even when not much program is running but I think it is still alright.
I find the screen quite decent and bright enough. Never really bother about the viewing angle.
Seem like alot of ppl compare this with MBA. I will not comment on spec but only on the feel. The 8cell battery make U36 thicker when you close it and hold it like you are holding a book as you place your arm beside you body. MBA definitely give a better feel when you holding it beside your body.
In term of weight, I think it could be me. The 200g more then MBA seem like a large different.
Asked a few shop. Most stated free gift is mouse and bag. But from the Asus facebook site, it stated there should be a optic drive for local. I think the shop are keeping it back. One shop after giving me discount, say that if I pay at 1498, then will drop in the optic drive.......
The widow prof model not available yet. Was told that the window prof model will have free upgrade to 4gb....... Just words from the shop so I guess we should not rely on it too much.
It has been a while since I went down Funan to look at notebook. Now lots of youngster doing sale. Service is terrible. One even gave the wrong price...... When you ask them question, most give you the "I am sleepy" look. Prefer those with working experience. Once you ask them best price, they will go check it out. The youngster will just say 1498 is best price.......
Still, judging the price and compared with other similar spec but slightly heavier product, I find that 1.5k is a bit too exp after much comparison. Hai.... going to wait for IT show and hope they slash the price to 1.2k or 1.3k.
On a side note. Go lowyat and you can see that ppl are selling it at 2999 in malaysia. With extended warranty of 350, after conversion to SGD, is about 1.4k. The free gift seem better then over here. No wat free antivirus or other useless software. The HD size at Malaysia is 650gb.
