hi jmktay, as i mentioned in my pm to you, i bought it. what i didnt say was that i managed to get it thru the Microsoft store. i didnt mention it as i didnt want to make you feel "tui" since you've taken the plunge on Amazon, hope you understand The RRP was USD699 but they provided a discount code so the final price was USD 599. This is for the 8GB RAM and 256GB SSD model. Am not sure if i took the last one as it now says that it is out of stock. I managed to get thru the payment section using my wife's Paypal account, again, not sure how that happened! I am using CGW as my forwarded so hopefully i will get it in 2 weeks. Will update again on the exact cost.

Any ideas how much performance differences when compare to the higher range model with cpu speed of 1.2 ghz , 256gb ssd, 8 mb of memory and a 2k screen resolution?

laptop was for my wife so i dont have any thorough input.. performance seems zippy enough for browsing, streaming vids and google drive. i have not tested the battery life personally so nothing to say on that..

Hi Everyone, saw this thread last week and tried using a concierge service but that didn't work too.

So I tried topping up my paypal account (US$650 thru DBS) and changed my paypal billing address to my uncle's US ADDRESS (I'm not using a credit card to pay so the address shouldn't matter). The shipping address is the one from Comgateway in Portland.

So far so good. Just waiting for pickup by UPS to send to Comgateway. I'm wondering how much the shipping + GST will be though.

I've been using it for web browsing and to do some work (using microsoft word). Overall quite snappy performance. Booting the laptop is amazingly fast too.

Cant really tell the battery life how many hours coz I use it on and off.

anyone has problems with the battery life? i lowered to 1920x1080 but the battery indicator shows 65% for 1hr 55min, then 64% estimated 2hr 19min only use for light surfing. i noticed the battery life also flactuates and seems inaccurate

I don't understand what you mean by lowering the resolution to 1920x1080... that's the native resolution... or the max resolution. Secondly, I have had superb battery life with the laptop watching video after video. It's got really good standby life as well. Note that the battery life quoted depends also on your current task. If it is a very intensive task, the laptop power management software will simply calculate battery life remaining based on your current consumption rate.

Totally agree... it's super fast... I've given it away (bought as a gift) rather reluctantly... If I need to get another laptop, it will be one to buy again...

i see rakuten selling 999.. with all coupons use.. it is about 870/

does the performance worth 150 dollar?

Got mine and installed the above. Working fine just like a core i5 would perform. Definitely very suitable for a developer machine.

no problem.. already made the purchased.. wife say no need the higher performance unit as she only use abit excel, browse internet and stream occasionally.

paid 831, after using coupons+cc discount + my rakuten points.
plus cashback using shopback another ~50 dollar... 780 for low-end laptop. not bad already.. heehee
