How are the hinges on the UX305/303? Heard they're quite bad and give way easily?

Been using it for the past 4 months. No regrets so far.

Very light, completely silent, amazing battery life when simple surfing and browsing pdf files (can get 10 hours). In the 4 months, I have never entered hibernation mode, because the battery doesnt have the chance to drop so low before.

CPu performance is not strong, but the SSD is really fast, which makes up for loading times. It is best used in aircon room, as the metal can heat up to become painfully hot in room temp.

My model is the 4gb, 5y10 model. Because it is the slowest core M model, the heat produced is lower than the highest end 5y71 model. http://www.anandtech.com/show/9117/analyzing-intel-core-m-performance
I dont notice any drop in performance even when things get hot.

Build quality has held up. Hinge and everything no problem so far.

Overall my stand remains the same (check the second post of this thread). It is good for simple productivity. No go for gaming, x265 video play back.

No issues with the hinges on this laptop. I bought one and gave it away, 3 months now... I recommended a friend to get one, it's been almost a month, also no issues. She wanted to buy a second one... that's how impressed she is...

I see three models at Harvey Norman Jurong Point now... $999 for the base model with Core M processor, then $1398 & $1598 for the two new models with i5 & i7 Core processors and 256 GB SSD...

This is a purely productivity laptop I would say... does everything well except gaming... it's no slouch even with Photoshop... I edit 24 MP full frame files which go up to 30 MB per file after editing... and like to do panos with these files using the Photomerge function... and the edited files can reach 1 GB sometimes... still good...

Hey guys, just read through the reviews and seems like most of the reviews about this model are pretty good.

My sis is looking to get a new laptop for her school (Uni). Mostly used for school work and probably watching movies/videos .

I saw this model on sale at Challenger at $899. Just thinking if we should get it now or wait for the PC show . Also, should we just buy the basic model or get the new i5 model for her usage as mentioned above ? I'm quite a noob in computer related stuffs so would appreciate some food advise . Budget wise would be about $1k + - . Can stretch more if necessary . Thanks

Hello guys, I have some questions regarding the UX305.

I understand that the battery life with the Core M processor version can last about 10 hours for normal wi-fi web browsing.

As you guys know the i7 processor version just came out, does anybody know what are the battery hours of the i7 version.

Thankyou

A bit less at around 7-8 hours or so I think. IMO, not worth it unless you're running games... if you're just using it for office productivity, the Core M processor is more than sufficient.

Just try again. Might be a faulty internet connection? Or the MS server cut the connection.

Edit: Try not to use a wireless connection in case it drops or use a wired connection. You're downloading 3GB or more.

is the 8gb ram 256gb ssd version sold anywhere in singapore?

I know Harvey Norman @ Jurong Point carries the i5 & i7 versions. But I cannot remember if it's 8GB RAM & 256 GB SSD. But I think you can check the online stores of each of the major electronics stores to find out.

Honestly, the Core M processor model is more than enough if all she's doing is MS Office, surfing the internet, watching online videos and accessing social media. Even photo-editing is ok. Just no high-end 3D gaming. Read my review up at the top.

Hey guys.. It's a long story but in summary, I have ordered two of the laptop instead of one from Amazon and is unable to cancel. Is anyone looking to buy one from Amazon? I'm using vpost which a forumer has posted that it costs around $100 sgd for Vpost to ship here. I'm looking to let go one of my order. Please PM.

I actually created two accounts for Amazon because one of it was suspended for payment verification which I read online that it might take month to be unsuspended.. That's why I went to create another account for my purchase as I need it urgently within the next few weeks.. But right now my account is unsuspended and the order is already shipping so I can't cancel..
