thanks for the update and info. will have to strike MR off any isp under future consideration.

Now that you mention it, will be watching out of curiosity if they change stance with SH integration (or if heaven forbid, SH adopts it as well). idle curiosity only.... :ROFLMAO:

They are still oferring routers without TR-069, like the Asus RT-AX3000 router and TP-Link Deco X60.

Ref: https://myrepublic.net/sg/broadband-promotions

1Gbps with TP-Link EX221-Gu (TR-069) --> S$38.99 per month
1Gbps with Asus RT-AX3000 --> S$44.99 per month

For this price, you can get full Unifi set. Router, POE Switch and 2x AC6 Pro access points.
lol and tones of wiki / google/ back and forth with the person recommending it.

in a nut shell, only those who wish to tinker and have the basic or even networking know how.

for most average folks who have no IT, nahhhhhhhh :o:crazy::s13::s13:=:p:s22::s22:

I have setup and used Ubiquiti, it great for plug and play but if you need to do more with your network, its not the easiest to configure. Especially for parental controls. Asus integrates well with smart homes as well, I have my XT12 hooked up with Alexa. Definitely not cheap, hence why I said budget permits, I run zenwifi XT8 and XT12 throughout the house.

Commercial setups are great for deployment, I have done both Ubiquiti and TP-Link Omada setups.

just to addon : only UDM, is closest to plug/ setup/ use [ psu ]

followed by UDR [ which is always out of stock ]

anything else, well.....TPLINK is a no go, even Comercial ones unless you have a very strong security lock down of what is being dialed back [ just my humble and limited view point ]

tks, i'm not at end of contract yet, so just watching and waiting for clarity on their absorbtion into SH.

now both places on m1. so far so good (some issues, but overall not worse than whizcomms).

cheers

haha... i mean definitely the asus is way better than the huawei. But if someone is just using for internet surfing such as youtube, emails and even game if its on wired ethernet, wont really feel any perf difference unless you gonna do speed test.

Real world usage for him wont matter since he mentioned this,

"Currently using Huawei ax3 pro (China version) and quite happy with the wifi connection and directly Lan connection to my pc."

For his PC, already on wired, so even a cheap gigabit router will still get him 800+mbps to 900+mbps if he is on a 1gbps plan

Wireless for his phone and devices he already currently happy with it which i assume is instant video buffering etc. Changing to the asus one probably have the same effect no?

Unless you saying he downloads alot, with multiple users at home eating up the bandwidth...but from this statement above, "quite happy with the wifi connection", i take from it is that all is okay, why change? Selling the Asus for $450 to $500 can cover abit more than a year's internet fee.

But then again, if money is nothing really of a concern, yea he can change it to the Asus, just that real world user performance might not make much of a difference for his usage.

to be honest,

swapping to that asus will be much future proofing, in my own view, where the support will be extended

chipset, asus is better [ newer ]
support , asus is better [ newer ]

and likely even if theres no change in the number of users, the number of wifi6 / future 7 devices will surely have impact in performace.

Above all, huawei stuff ? nahhhhh not really a fan after the whole fiascal of their company ,

nothing against the suggestion , just odd to retain old things, when theres "free" newer ones , logically speaking,

though if the aesthics portion is questionable, i would agree the ax3pro looks decent compared to the gaudy looking asus "gamer" looks
Thanks both! much appreciated.

My ax6000 is here but seeing the prices in carousell, makes me feel like using it. actually i think i can settle for a AX55 instead.

My take is wifi technology will always change and in 1-2yrs time it will become obsolete eventually. moreover, my place devices using would be less than 10 at any point. hmm

the AX6000 is overkill to be honest.

I could get 3 sets of the rapture AX6000 but i gotten 2 instead. Sold both of them in carousel already.

My current home, a 5 room. i am just using the free m1 router...AC2600 something like as the main router in DB box cabinet with door close. my MBR still got signal and can stream youtube even with door close. But if i move more towards the corner of my MBR, then no signal, which i just solve it by putting another cheap asus router act as an AP in my MBR. My house has cat 6 cables to all rooms with faceplates. ( guess most modern hdb has it already)

Streaming netflix disney plus on wifi is lag free. My pc is on ethernet cable now directly connected to ONT port 2 ( as i am on the 2gbps plan)

So honestly the AX6000 is overkill unless one is doing alot of download/upload over wifi? If you doing massive downloads, i assume most will be on lan cable, and if using lan cable, any cheap wifi router that has gigabit ethernet will be fast.

So i was using 1GBPS at $39.90 by m1. M1 gave a promo to upgrade to 2GBPS at $51.90 with free rapture AX6000. So the difference was $12 a month..i sold the asus router for $450... use the $450 to cover the extra $12 a month and still have profit left over...and an additional 1gbps line from ONT port 2, and i do have fibre lines under my name for my relatives and they allow me to go buy the AX6000 as they dont need it. i also sold away haha..

I bought the Archer AX6000 at $179 and it was delivered on Fri. Anyone bought it as well?

Firmware version: 1.2.4 Build 20210719 rel.12163(5553)
Hardware version: Archer AX6000 v1.0

The firmware version is different from TPLink website. How come?

different as in older version? or country-specific version?

if older version, it's probably due to time difference between production and the time it got delivered to you.
just update it with the country-specific version.

The website listed as latest version is Archer AX6000(US)_V1_210511. Totally different?

The box has IMDA sticker and is bought from Amazon SG (Sold and shipped by Amazon Asia-Pacific). Is local set.

unit with IMDA stickers is at least an assurance it is local set, for local conditions, and should have pre-installed sg-specific firmware.

it's been a long time since i updated my old TP-Link routers, but from what i remember, for my routers, sg used the same fw as usa.

the sg website would list all versions, but would have a note saying which country it is for. thus, the latest may have a note that said, for example, "for XXX country, to address issues of <ISP in XXX country>

having said that, I've flashed latest versions but for other countries, by mistake. didn't see any performance difference. but YMMV.

edit: just visited their site. funny how the "support" link is now hidden in the overflow menu.
did you check what hardware version your router is?
Ver 2.6 has only 1 firmware release listed
ver 2 and 1 have 2 or more.

the version you listed (AX6000(US)_V1_210511) is the latest for hardware ver 1. which matched your router.
looking at the release dates, the actual version is dated 19 jul 2021, the website version is dated 02 Jul 2021.

given that your actual version seems to be slightly more recent than the website, you could live with it.

or, if you prefer to go by the website, you could take a not-recommended chance to flash the website version. since tp-link usually prevents flashing older firmware (via normal documented method), it will probably block this.
Disclaimer: this is a not-recommended option. if you decide to go this route, all responsibility is yours

IMHO.
It is on the TPLink US website.
You login and see if the ask you to update to new version from local.

P.S. When buying TPLink product, do check the hardware version number. The hardware version for the AX6000 local now is V2.6.

I used the auto update feature in the router and it said it is the latest version. If it is for the US market, there will not be any IMDA sticker and the plug will not be 3pin UK plug no? Never tried to manually update from the US website yet.

No idea as to the IMDA sticker and plug. Mine AX10s are local sets.

FYI, my model also got the letters (US) in them.

I had a chat with TP-Link live chat and he said my firmware is the US set. :s13: And latest firmware which is Dec 2021 is not out yet on cloud server which is why auto update did not work.

Oh well I will flash manually when I get home.
