Can negotiate with car taxi if there are many motorcycle taxi around and you dont carry much stuff but so far at most is about 50 baht discount. If in a group, even dont negotiate still okay since everyone chip in. Thats why shopping, always carry a backpack even though troublesome when the security ask to look into it at times. But seriously, their security people are damn polite compared to our own.

normally i just speak to them in thai. and if they tell me a fix price i will tell them if not going by meter then i wont take. some will just go by meter then.

Problem is if the taxi gets stuck in jam, meter is still moving right? Whereas negotiated price already, stuck an hour or two should still be same price.

See what time you take the taxi.

Pink taxis more honest right?
Thought was the Green Yellow ones because they "belong" to military if not wrong and are driven by the taxi owners. Other colors are rental taxis.

then must depends on what time you take the taxi. even from town to my house max not more then 150 with traffic. so you must first know where your going and timing. best is if you know how to tell them which route.

silom to siam paragon is abt 65b to 75b
silom to four face buddha is abt 60 to 65b ...
sukhuvmit to four face buddha is 50b ...

even if you queue up at shopping mall, such as siam paragon ...
you will still encountered ppl who, after you close the cab door, on the way to drive out to the main road, they off the meter, and tell you 200b ...

I have never came across taxis charging at a fixed price, regardless of what colour the taxi is.

Unless you are taking taxis at those super jammed areas, then the drivers will prolly charge u at a fixed price or dont even bother to pick u up at all.

Yep, but normally the tourists packed places though. I'm refering more towards all other places in bkk as a whole though. But that said, imho, no point taking taxi at these places since it wastes time n $$. A motorcycle taxi would be faster. Can even squeeze 2 pax :s13:
