Means we can't do one time payment on a monthly basis anymore?

I wrote to CardUp team 2 days ago to clarify on some other matters and at the same time ask them about paying my Income Tax via Cardup (currently on GIRO monthly deduction). This is reply from CardUp

We have been in touched with IRAS recently in regards to tax payments via CardUp.

They have reiterated that for tax instalment payments specifically, the only way to pay these in this way is via your existing GIRO arrangement.

Please kindly note that CardUp does not offer instalment plans that are currently offered by the banks nor are we an alternative to the GIRO instalment plan offered by IRAS. If you would like to use CardUp to pay for your taxes, we are only able to process one off payment and you would need to settle all your outstanding tax by the due date given by IRAS.

Yeah cannot installment with cardup but you can apply for giro so you can pay by installment, THEN pay monthly by cardup. As long as your payment reaches IRAS about 1 week before they deduct, there will be no giro deduction

it means CardUp do not offer installment (ie those that automatically split into X numbers of payments over a period of time).

dont see why you cant still pay one month at a time if u wish to.

I think the CardUp replies means that if one is currently on monthly deduction via GIRO offered by IRAS, we can use CardUp to make one instalment payment. The subsequent month's payment via CardUp will not make as IRAS will be writing to the sender and void the monthly GIRO arrangement demand full outstanding payment in a lump sum.

I dont think that is the case.

If tax payment (via CardUp or other means) is more than Giro amount, IRAS will just take it as pre-payment for future month/s. Giro deductions will continue after the excess payment has expended.

It's also not up to CardUp to say IRAS will void Giro arrangement & ask for payment in full. And I dont think IRAS will do that either.

Not true. Can make income tax payments via Cardup, and Giro will not be void. No Giro deducted if payment via Cardup reach IRAS at least 1 week in advance. Can even pay in advance for a few months via Cardup. Conversely, if there is still unpaid installment amount for any month then GIRO deduction occur.

would you know, if payment from cardup only reaches iras a day before giro deduction date, would giro deduction still occur?

Good in that it can meet card spend required for uob one account bonus interest and UOB one credit card rebate. Must use a credit card that count cardup as eligible spend for rebate and gives rebate better than 2.6% as this is the admin fee for using cardup. BOC family card pays 5% for min $700 per mth. Uob one card quarterly rebate for $500 each month is 3.33%, for $2000 each month 5%.
I use it to pay income tax and insurance. You might want to read up more usage at their website. https://cardup.co/

Edited.

Town council ? Cardup cannot. I email them before.

Their reply :
CardUp operates in sectors where there is no or low card acceptance. We understand Town Council already accepts card payments directly and so this isn't a payment type we currently support.
