My experience is that the number can only be used in one account. Since you used a local's number, he or she may not be able to use it for 12306.


I will try to verify my own 12306 account at the station, even though someone has bought my ticket for me.
I am making my HSR journey this Thursday. I may document my trip in this forum, including my arrival at Daxing airport, to my transfer at Beijing North and finally my arrival at Baotou.

Do check your flight departure and arrival. Started snowing in Beijing already. Heavy snow forecasted for this Thursday.

May i ask , after a successful purchased from Trip . beside the information shown in the trip bookings .
Will there be any reference reflect on 12306.app with the same ticketing ID used ?

Or you can only use the trip.com information for boarding ?
Why i am asking because, i also purchase two critical ticket via trip . need to understand how to validated the booking officially .

I see that tickets in my name show up, even though I did not buy them personally. There is an enhancement so users can change the font size. and opt for 爱心interface.

Oh is it .. then my a12306 acct really mess up ..
hope i can resolve when i reach china and settle the account there and still have a valid tickets brought from Trip. .. at its is, there is nothing much can be done now .

On Alipay and Wechat pay, no problem with alipay in all purchases, metro, train ticket over the counter, mama shop, etc. Wechat pay is giving me problem. Verfiied my account b4 in SG and could see my cc card, etc but when I wanted to pay, it prompted to verify my details again. Submitted passport, my photo, etc.

I used cash when Alipay is not supported but bring more small notes, if u r buying a bottle of water n give the seller 100, he wll either grumble or no notes. 1 troublesome, i am using cimb, most alipay transaction needs otp. delay a lot.

I gave up buying tickets for myself using the 12306 app or website. Attempted to get someone at the counter to fix the problem for me, but it did not work.

I think using Trip to book the HSR is the easiest. Managed to cancel them too and got my refunds.

I want to document my journey to northern China that took place on 14th December.

I set off from Changi T4 on Juneyao to Beijing Daxing with a stopover at Pudong and arrived at 10:30am. Upon arrival at PKX, I realised that although I travelled light, by the time I reached the train station at B1, the next train would be in an hour's time - it was a long walk at B1. My original plan was to get to Beijing West Railway Station with this train and then hail a taxi from there to get to Beijing North Railway Station. The train station is at the far end of B1, and if one follows the signs for "Train", it is another 100m or so from the "Subway" or Daxing Airport Express which has blue lanes marked on the floor to lead you to the station.

Entrance to the train station for the Beijing – Xiong'an Intercity Railway requires a security check, but after I cleared security, I backtracked the way I entered when I saw that the next train would be in an hour, so it was back to the subway. This subway is labelled in blue on Beijing subway maps and as mentioned above, you can follow the markings on the floor of airport terminal especially at B1 to reach the station. My plan now was to get to the terminal at Caoqiao and transfer to Line 10 and then Line 4 for Xizhimen Station, which is adjacent to Beijing North Railway Station. Although the Daxing Airport Express is indicated as a subway system, I consider it more of a proper train like the RER and airport express at Beijing Capital. The seats are all front-facing and dual-seating. The irksome thing about these trains and people mover systems is that you have to clear security each time you enter the station and every bag has to go through the X-ray machine.

The transfers were quite uneventful. The metro was not very crowded at about noon, and I was able to find a seat for each line. By the time I reached Xizhimen, it was past noon and my G2493 from Beijing North was at 13:41 hours. Happily I discovered that Capitamall Xizhimen had a basement food court I could have lunch. Astonishment at the Beijing lunch crowd during peak hour. I walked the concourse to Beijing North and boarded my G2493 on time.

G2493 reached Baotou on time at 17:15 and I had dinner in the station. I boarded K195 at 18:50 for my journey westward to my final destination. All in all, a smooth journey from the flight on the 13th evening till my arrival at my final destination on the 14th. All the trains were very punctual. The manual boarding gates felt like priority boarding for me using my passport to check-in.

1) brought ticket via trip. Z16 overnight train from harbin to Beijing. when to the station to obtain a itinerary . staff able to see your ticket information via passport number at their system. my 12306 app didn’t show anything . journey was find .
2) ask about 12306.app issues. at harbin station. staff don’t understand and chase me off.
3) reach Beijing station .check with 直班主任about 12306.app. they ask me to switch to Chinese version .. feedback to me need cn mobile.. i try to explain about the English version, but refuse to listen.
4) story short. all train staff are super busy they dont really want to entertain any abnormal query.. especially foreigners. their way or high way. ..

Same outcome here when I approached the station staff on the issues with my app. Not unfriendly, the staff did something on my phone, told me it was done, but i found it was not. Since I can get someone else to buy, I let the matter rest.

Guess it was peak period, thus, the nonchalant attitude.
I approached them after ticket sales hours and they bothered to come out of the office to assist me to verify my pax infos for my 12306 app.
Been using 12306 mobile app without issues apart from requiring verification, which was even more seamless after verifying.

I put it down to the poor Chinese public service attitude. When I register myself at their police station, I get the same attitude. Nobody gives a sh*t about how their service is perceived. One gets to appreciate how public service is so much better here or even in Malaysia or Thailand.

If there are issues with your train tickets, just approach the staff at the counters. I think some of them do speak English, perhaps more so at the tourist spots or main train stations.

Have not used 12306 to book my train tickets for a long time. So can’t comment if the app is buggy. Trip.com worked well for me pre-Covid.

Public service is relatively well-paying in the provinces and comes with official/unofficial perks. Not to mention their jobs are very secure. Yet these public "servants" lord over the masses with impunity.

Share my case of buying physcially. Last min, decide to go Shanghai from Hangzhou. I went to Hangzhou East railway station, need to go to the first floor first counters at the entrance. Just provide passport and get the tickets. Long walk from the Metro to the counter though. There are standing and seating tickets,I bought coming back tickets too. The departure is on the 2nd floor. Whole journey less than 1 hr. once reach Shanghai, the railway station is connected to the Metro, very convienent.
