Hi, I am bringing a 3 year old kid for my upcoming trip. Planning to take 1 x HSR (G) and 1 x night train (D).
I read that children under 6 can take the train for free if the kid does not occupy own seat/bunk. Has anyone actually tried this? Tried to seach on youtube but the vlogs i see for train travel are all for adults.

Do I just turn up at the station with my kid and they will let me in?

Should I choose to buy a ticket for the child, is it possible to do so? I suppose i can try to buy a child ticket and see if it can be used for the 3 year old to get an additional bunk.

I am leaning towards buying tickets as well. But just to be clear, you bought tickets for your kid(s) who are below 6 using Trip.com? I just tried and put in the date of birth but did not click confirm.. Just making a dummy attempt to see if it works.

mine is similar case to yours, it worked fine for the HSR don't worry, just put surname "Tan", Given Names "Celleste Xie Hui" as advised, note that it follows the order at the bottom of my passport page but not the name in the main section

yes i would do that, it shows that way in my app also
actually i don't think it matters too much, they track mainly by passport number

anyway just an update if anyone is interested, i recently tested adding my friend as passenger, can verify online using email + photo of passport and can book without restrictions, totally no need to go to counter anymore and no chinese number needed

try playing around with chinese/eng versions on the app if you hit any problems verifying
after all verified then use the chinese version for more features

Haven’t tried before but I saw on the app you can add pax to “乘车人” under the account tab. For me, my name and details is already in 乘车人 so additional name can be your family member or partner. When you purchase two or more tickets, you can select their names as the passenger(s).

No need to over-think this just because each of you has an account. Only one of you shall have to do the purchase for 2. Indicate there is the account owner travelling and one other passenger. You will need to provide the particulars of the other passenger. That is it.

Yes, just add the required pax when purchasing on one account will do. Ensure all info are accurate otherwise, will face issues.

Anyone tried business class before, Trip.com avg S$440 compared to S$125 normal class.
Got Childrens with me, is normal class good enough or business class really worth the additional 3.X cost?

Took business class b4. Definitely worth the money if long distance. Very Spacious and definitely quiet.... If u want to save then go for 1st class.... btw there is no normal class

Dunno why they name it 2nd class, make it good subpar, standard, normal or economy class sound so much better,

Min. go for 1st class. The different in term of price is not much. There was once I was rushing and went directly to station counter to purchase ticket and when I boarded the train, my seating was inside a sleeping berth. Till now I am still confuse, what ticket did I purchase.
