The 2 fuel switches moved to cutoff in about 1 second, one after another.
Wonder is that possible with 2 spring loaded switch that requires lifting up before moving it.
The PF (pilot flying) will be too busy as flight just lift off. The PM (pilot monitor) has the time to do it though.
Wasn't stated who is the PF and PM in the report.

Or maybe the resolution of the timing is rather coarse, eg 1.9 second is logged as 1 second dependent on the sampling interval ?

Take note that recovery action (by pilot/or pilots) had been initiated to restart both the engines but there wasn't enough time for the engines to develop sufficient thrust ...
that's the hardest to determine

i guess now the investigation will be into both pilots and their mental state

SQ has lots of Air India pilots? The voice recording seems to point that the pilot and co pilot were pushing responsibilities to the last minute.

👆 This is reliable news.

DELHI: Fuel control switches to the engines of an Air India flight that crashed shortly after take-off, killing 260 people, were moved from the "run" to the "cutoff" position moments before impact, a preliminary investigation report said early Saturday (Jul 12).

The report, issued by India's Aircraft Accident Investigation Bureau, did not offer any conclusions or apportion blame for the Jun 12 disaster, but indicated that one pilot asked the other why he cut off fuel, and the second pilot responded that he had not.

The Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner was headed from Ahmedabad in western India to London when it crashed, killing all but one of the 242 people on board as well as 19 people on the ground.

In its 15-page report, the investigation bureau said that once the aircraft achieved its top recorded speed, "the Engine 1 and Engine 2 fuel cutoff switches transitioned from RUN to CUTOFF position one after another with a time gap of 01 sec".

Have to do voice print analysis to see who was saying what. Either one of the pilots was dreaming and mistakenly flipped the wrong switches accidentally or it was a deliberate act.

The FO was the PF (Pilot Flying) as stated in the actual AAIB report; don’t know why news outlets don’t mention this important bit.

All evidence seems to point to the Captain intentionally crashing the plane…

Thanks for pointing out that FO is flying the plane.

The human factor will be thoroughly investigated before concluding whose action causes the incident. Motive, family members, mental health, insurance, etc ...

By right pilot needs to vocally tell the other pilot what action they are going to do and the other pilot vocally confirm the action. Many air crashes happened when the pilot had habit of kept quiet while flying the plane, the other pilot did not knew what action was done.

FO probably hands on the yoke, so only Captain could have meddle with fuel switches, but why he did that? he's retiring soon.

I believe the captain meddle with the switch n purposely ask co pilot why did u do that n he reply I did not.

Co pilot seem like one with a colourful life- playboy look, will not wan to have his life cut short
