dont cherry pick the statement. Read this also.

Second, road taxes – which are based on engine capacity - are higher for, bigger cars, which tend to consume more fuel and produce more emissions than small cars.
But road tax is now based on output power.

Those tour de france types want to ride fast AND ride fast without stopping so clock personal achievements.

Now, which are the roads that should be widened so that those cyclists can zoooooom all the way without being held up by traffic lights or traffic?
you are referring to those pro riders from TDF? Of course they want to be fast and don't want to stop. But I don't see SG hosting such events.

Those leisure cyclists will stop. Riding fast or not is not important.

It' not practical all the time to widen roads when the infrastructure has been set.

In many places, pedestrian paths have been widened to accommodate pedestrians and cyclists. So you want to widen the pedestrian paths AND the road? Where do you find the space to do that???

So why can't cyclists use the paths?
So why can't drivers share the road?

cost vs benefit

the benefit for road widening is to reduce congestion vs people personal hobby?

i want to play soccer outside my house can ask government build soccer court outside or not?
Drivers can take public transport also, our MRT and bus is one of the world 's best. No reason to drive.

So why can't drivers share the road?

Ain't cyclists ALREADY using the roads now?

I think the best outcome is to let the cyclist run amok, and let them exercise their god given right to hold up traffic during peak hours.

The more people are affected, the better. And then we shall see how the general public come down on them.

So by all means, cycle in a huge peloton. Cycle 2 abreast during peak hours. Hold up one lane of traffic because cyclists can. Do it as often and as dramatically as you can.

Then I am sure that the cycling paths and the PCNs that the govt had spent tons of money building, would work just fine for the cyclists.

Really is spandex logic.
here's another possible one:

Spandex Logic: drivers can take public transport

"why spandex can't take public transport?"

Spandex Logic: no no no, we don't talk about it... instead let me tell you how our recreational cycling is more important than motor vehicle drivers driving their cars for work and fetch family members.

It’s non continuous, and bumpy. Use it first for commuting to work on a daily basis before talking. Why don’t drivers try driving off road when there is a nice smooth road running parallel to it? PCNs are like that

the joke is

all road cyclists think they are law abiding road users
but when convenience calls,
beating a red light with their reasons.
asking 1.5m for their rights to overtake the whole traffic
fugking 1 sec of flapping hand is a mean of signalling
slamming on vehicles is their way of horning
ownself cannot balance well blame 1.5m again

oh jus in
avoid dedicated bicycle lanes and use motorist lanes at their own reasons and entitlement

But our friend here say that riding fast or not is not important.

So if the cycling paths and PCN are not continuous and bumpy, why waste money building them to begin with?

Well, it seems like you find it well justified to cycle on the road, to get to work, probably during peak hours, and expect all vehicles including buses to give you a 1.5 m berth. I hope that you travel in a pair and cycle two abreast, so that it makes you more visible and gives you more safety. Heck the bus that is carrying 80 pax ambling slowly behind you. Well done.

Then the roads have way too many cars lor. Driving costs need to increase further to cut down car usage during peak hours
