Hi, I have been using 6400 for about 2+ months already and currently is very happy that I have bought Dell.

One question that I need you guys' help here... I have been using Win XP Manager for my periodic system maintenance job. I used it's Registry Cleaner to clean up my system registry periodically as well and it would ask me to backup the registry prior to clean. So when it does back up every time, the backup registry folder would be saved on my hard drive C:. So since I have done a few registry cleaning tasks already for these past months, I have quite a few backup registry folders now whereby each folder contains +/-50 MB, the question is, whether is there a need to keep all these backup registry folders or I just need to keep the most recent one and delete the rest, as these folders will consume up quite a lot of hard disk space over a period of time. Thank you in advance for the kind help. Cheers :)

I think there are not many using WinXP Manager.

Most using CCleaner to clean their registry.

What do you do if your system fail to bootup?

i think the most important is to backup your whole device with the lastest settings that u deem is most useful, registry backup is really not the issue here

cheers

Hi Diavonex. I actually have not encounter this problem yet as in my system fails to boot up but if this happens most likely I will use the system restore point facility. As for CCleaner, will it also ask to backup the registry before it cleans?

Hi ter_03_80, so it means that as long as I have my latest settings for my restore point, it should be ok to delete the backup registry folder? Sorry that I might be asking "funny" question...

If your computer cannot bootup, how do you access System Restore.

You're better off using Acronis or Ghost to backup your 6400 to an external hard disk.

Thanks Diavonex , I will try ccleaner. So is it necessary for me to backup the registry upon cleaning? Or once backup everytime I clean, I can delete the previous backup registry folder that ccleaner has created last time and just keep the latest backup registry folder that ccleaner has created?

Try not to mess around with the registry; let CCleaner do the cleaning. Just set the guide lines and click Run Cleaner.

The software will expires after 15 days but the Backup files and Rescue CD can still be use (no expiry date)
