I suppose u didn't take the black color pump? That's Euro 2.

Euro 5 is another color. Blue or green. Can't remember at this time.

Didn't feel anything wrong back then

Euro5 Diesel can also be found in Shell - together with the normal Petrol pumps towards the convenience store. Look for the big Euro5 wordings.

Need advice now still worth it for diesel cars? looking at 116d.
now with VES, you are going to pay a surcharge for diesel vehicle

basically, the govt just decided that greenhouse gases are not important to reduce anymore

U can do a quick calculation..

A liter of diesel cost how much, vs petrol.
Then the realistic FC of the car.
Then estimate the mileage u will travel a year.

The total difference u compare with the difference of road tax of same cc for diesel and petrol.

There u will adjust to see your breakeven mileage.
If u don't travel this amount then it's not worth, at least financially in this area.

Other aspects are probably more complex so just assume they are the same.
Eg one don't use spark plugs but need to have dpf or top up adblue fluid.

Probably it is not so worth now.

Rides can be bumpy over uneven roads. And the creaking sound from the doors/windows can be irritating at times.

Nevertheless, the 116d is so lovable, so fun to drive, because at stop lines, and from the moment ‘GO’, it almost always wins at overtaking.

My 216d creaks a lot too. Quite annoying and totally not what I expected of BMW's build quality.

add in the ves, all the saving is out of the window unless you drive more then 220k in 10 years.
