Door bell with camera recommendations

The Xiaomi doorbell 2 is recently added to the list in Sg region Mihome. Anyone with the bell care to try to see if it can be linked up and any improvements in latency & PIR function

Just sharing, being not willing to splurge hundreds just for doorbell cam that most shared in here (had Xiaomi security cam covering living room entrance anyway), I bought this China (or Hong Kong) Eken V7 doorbell at ~$50++ for a try

It's using Aiwit app (developer from hongkong I think). Tested playing for awhile and all seems pretty good. Doorbell triggered notification/call in 1-3sec (for both WiFi & mobile network on phone)

Free cloud storage 7 days rolling. Live video feed latency of about ~1sec after initial 2-3sec loading. Intercom voice latency ~1sec. Up to 3 users for viewing cloud recordings, just 1 user access at any point of time for live feed/intercom.

PIR motion recording I've yet to play around with the sensitivity to find best optimal setting.

Powered by 2x 18650 battery, rechargeable via microusb port on detachable doorbell (can be secured via 2 tamper proof screws at bottom). Chime is wall plug, 30-40 melody. Both bell & chime volume adjustable.

From others reviews, battery last around 1-3 month (depending on PIR sensor setting and usage). Shall see how it lasts.

Overall, am actually surprisingly satisfied with it, at least for now haha

I have used the 1st gen xiaomi dingling doorbell before. Need to use China server to register the product for MI home app connection. Not only that. Battery life is poor, no instant notification when bell is ring and live feed couldnt work at all. Unless many users had tried and able to give positive feedbacks. I guess this doorbell product from Xiaomi is better to skip.

Now I am using eufy wired doorbell and happy with it

I also got the first gen model which is pretty decent for its price. The live feed is a bit slow but at least it capture some video.
This black model totally cmi as even with China server still doesn’t work well except when people ring I will know but the video and motion totally cannot record.

probably the need to route back to their server & back, it takes longer to response.

For v5, I'm able to wire it so no more battery problems. The doorbell seems to have problems scanning some phones. I had to switch phones before the doorbell was able to scan the QR code

Phone's dark theme not compatible. Need a normal theme where the QR background will be white (instead of black) then the cam can recognize.

Some bros pm me regarding to my Eken v7 so i thought i just share here for all after using it for around a month

For app notification (am using android), i think there might be some hit and miss depending on multiple factors like android/ios, settings etc.

Just sharing from my point of experience, Family using several android devices (mostly xiaomi android 10 / 11). I set Aiwit app to forced awake i.e off sleep, off battery saver, priority in notification, autostart etc and with those settings, I've been getting notification via phone (Bell call) promptly in within like 1-2 sec from Pressed bell. Before i had done the settings, i do encountered on & off delayed notification like 5-10mins or receving notifications only when i open the App, most probably due to some sleep mode overiding pushed notification causing it. Connected home's doorbell chime rings in 1sec promptly.

For PIR, I set sensitivity to highest and after observation, it'll still takes like 1-2sec to activate recording after detecting motion. If someone walked past briskly without stopping (corridor), it'll usually end up record nothing or maybe just his/her back moving away. That said, there shouldnt be any issue for corner units. Add in the notification latency of 1-2sec (same as bell pressed), so total around 2-4sec from movement to notification received.

When i return home (usually in brisk manner with gate unlocked, doorbell pasted on gate), PIR detects im approaching form side corridor and only start recording after i open the gate. However If someone staying in position Infront of bell / knocking on door / loitering around / walking past very very slowly i.e 3steps in <2sec, it'll capture video of him definitely.

v7 have no microsd card slot/support. Its a lifetime free 7 days looping cloud storage (or topup $4-$14 subscription for 15/30d, 30/90d, 60/365d). One can download individual/multiple videos while browsing the list in app.

From observations, most clips are of 14secs length. I believe it's auto cap at 14sec unless there's major continuous motion i.e if motionless + follow-up movements detected it'll record another new clip again.

Received parcel delivery remotely today via doorbell intercom passing instructions to leave at doorstep. 2 longer clips recorded 36sec & 50sec for continuos motion detection

You can consider those wireless models. Easier to setup too.

Thanks. I'm leaning towards wired models before considering wireless models. Looking at Eufy Security Video Doorbell 2K (Wired), but does not seem to be avaiable locally. Seen in previous post the wireless version can be wired up too, any idea where to get the additional wires to do that?
