Anyone using Aqara G4 doorbell? CN has white version, quite sexy imo. But doesn't seem popular based on discussion above.
I am using Aqara G4, the black one (international edition) since January. It's wired to a AC power transformer inside my HDB unit.

The horizontal 162 degree view coverage of the external corridor works well. it is mounted on the wall with the provided angled wedge. Video is clear for both day and night. Using it with HKSV, and the alert response my family gets on our mobiles whenever someone walks by, or press the doorbell is almost instantaneous. We can hold a conversation with the person via the build-in mike (despite the road noise from the busy road downstairs).

So yes, I love it.

By the way if you're planing to get the white China one, take note it does not come with the wedge mount.

Thanks for sharing. There is white variant with the wedge option as well (see link).

But I don't think it is something that bothers me a lot since the viewing angle is already very wide.

Can you share if there are additional parts to purchase to power the Video Doorbell to mains instead of battery powered? And if the installation was done by yourself or installer?

I am undecided if I want to run a cable to power the doorbell.

The China server Aqara G4 listed in the tabao link has no microSD storage in the indoor wifi chime unit. That means you need iCloud storage subscription or you are ok to store videos and everything in China-based cloud server.

As for what else you need, if existing doorbell is not powered, then you need a 18v-24v AC transformer / power adaptor to convert/run your wall AC to power the G4 outdoor unit.
(In case you dunno, those 'default' battery powered indoor bell commonly found in HDB apartment is not the same)

I did the installation myself.

I found out battery powered G4 has tad delay when sending notifications/alerts to one's phone, and choppier videos. YMMV.

Anyone using the Wyze Video Doorbell v2? I got one from Amazon (S$45) and planning to use it with my existing ding dong chime. Got SD card recording option (if I don't want to cloud-subscribe) and compatible with scrypted for HKSV.

I noticed Tapo D230S1 now has a newer hardware Ver1.2

Any difference in stability etc compared to older hardware Ver1.0?

Google wired doorbell can be purchased by some seller but warranty is an issue.

Or wait for Tapo, which has a new wired model coming soon.

The image quality from their battery operated model is good.

The new model is said to be able to show head to toe image.
Don’t ever buy Google la. I am an investor of Google but their hardware really jialat. The RMA is a total pain in the ass. Highly not recommended

Using this Arlo wireless doorbell after reading the review on Home & Decor. Not bad. Subscription around $5 per month. Battery life also quite long, about 2-3 weeks before recharging. Only thing with wireless is depends on the strength of your home WiFi, so cannot be too far from the router cos signal needs to pass through the fire rated door after all. But now I can see who placed deliveries and I can even send the shots to Deliveroo when the delivery guy anyhow put the food.

So far using d230 from tapo for nearly 2 month battery life around 38% left.

This is due to my neighbour having renovation so consume more battery

Yup, think they change the way it reacts after pressing the button.

In a way, at least it makes you answer the call so that you do not miss it.

driving/at work quite irritating though

Anyway, Tapo support sent me their beta app so I can disable that now.
