1) May I ask if RF (wifi) or IR is a better option -which works better with Alexa?
RF refer to the compatible with RF devices that using 433, 315mhz not by wifi, RM pro would be better choice if you have both RF+IR device to control and both work with alexa.
2) I saw the codes provided by someone for google home but I am really lost. Is there any recommendations for me to get professional help on installation?
Not sure about that as I configured myself to linked rm pro to alexa by rm bridge.
3) What is a 1 way and 2 way? (Sorry!)
1 way is 1 button control 1 light, 2 way is 2 button control 2 lights on a single gang face plate...etc
4) I have existing lights and fans which will not be replaced - I understand I can simply buy something that can make them controllable using remote controller - and I assume hence can be controlled using RM Pro? Sorry. What is this device to make existing lights & fans controllable by remote?
See answer 3.
Hello, I'm new to home-automation too, lemme try to answer ur questions.
1) I'm using RM PRO which u already know has IR+RF, so IR such as aircon remote, cable box remote, tv remote settled. RF wise, i use it for RF sockets, i bought cheap rf sockets online but u can easily get more reliable brands such as tp-link or broadlink ones.
2) i tink no need worry too much on the 'codes', u just ask rm pro to learn the button and installed the IHC app for rm pro, with IHC u can eliminate the 'bridge' even.
3) i believe the 1-way , 2-way is toking about the communication from the ur device. 2-way(communication) means if i use an app to turn on the light for example, my app should indicate the light is ON, so i can see the status of the light via my app too. but sadly the e-remote / IHC app for broadlink seems to be 1-way for now, meaning i click on/off light, i do not know the status of the light via the app, can only see the physical light to determine.
4) to change ur existing ceiling fans/lights to add in remote is abit more troublesome, ur issue can be eaisly solve by getting wifi/rf controlled wall switches. Broadlink TC2 wall switch is one of them, and of cos can be on/off via ur rm pro IHC app, & via ur Alexa.
Hope it helps!
