Am moving back to Australia end Dec /early Jan. Not sure how I feel about it.

If you have lived in AU before, surely there won't be any culture shock or feel uncomfortable adjusting to it.

If really unable to adjust or like the place. Feel free to move to other places/countries la....

you work long hours by choice? or do they always roster you for long hours?

Nah normally I am meant to work from 8 to 5pm, with random on-call shifts every now and then.

But I volunteer for more hours for the overtime salary. Your pay can increase alot from all the extra shifts rostered on.

I currently work 70ish hours a week.

I found out that the docs on roster can't take leave as and when they like, and the rosters are planned well in advance.. is that true?

That is true because medical admin needs to co-ordinate your leave and find a relief RMO/registrar to cover your absence.

Sometimes, they may force your leave on you at a time not of your choosing.

So happy for you that you are settling well!!!! Congrat on your NEW life and NEW freedom!!!

:):):):)

Yes, Australia has fair wages and a good remuneration policy, and workers' rights! They also have STRONG worker unions to fight for your rights too.

Unlike certain shiat hole country, where you need to be cheaper, faster and better. Worst of all, pay you 3rd world remuneration and you need to have shalf it down in your throat even though u are so unhappy!

Many of my peers and those who I know have slowly, "quietly" left over the past 15yrs....

If you are free, you can look up @Heriophant lor as he is in Melbourne.

The only thing that is annoying is the tax, but there is no perfect country I guess.

I find Melbourne too boring. Sydney is my cup of tea.

Thanks for the tax! Haha!

I'm waiting to head back in the next 2 months to enroll in Medicare. Then later collect age pension! LMAO!

In all seriousness, I'll be earning less when I return to Australia (with all the tax), so not really looking forward to getting a job so soon.

It's my pleasure to contribute to nation building!

But yes, the tax here is quite scary! :s13:

looking apartment in the cockburn, success area.
There are a few available but......the walls are like made of chipboard. The decent ones are costing too much

I was eyeing some apartments in Cockburn Central, 2bedrooms, 1 bathroom, and 1 car slot, and located beside the train station and mall, for about AUD350K last year. I thought it was a good buy for an investment property, given that the rental yields there are about 450pw.

We waiting to go back, have a look around. Buy land first.

Don't like the Australia layouts. So gonna build.

We aren't moving back fully yet. So still got plenty of time.

We still gotta shuttle between where we are now and Australia.

I would love to but the salary in Sydney is too low; it is way higher in Perth.

And the housing prices here are still quite cheap. So Perth is kind of the "goldilocks" region in regards to salary and housing prices.

I am based in Perth at the moment.

The problem is that the base salary in WA is 1.5 times that of NSW, and they are generous in paying out overtime.

Maybe I will buy a house in Sydney as an investment property in the next few years.

Nah I bought my own place last year. But I am looking out for an investment property at a good price.

For doctors, they actually allow you to borrow up to 95% of the property's price without any penalty.

PRs are eligible for the First Home Owner Grant, but it is a pittance.

Hey!

What does my puppy filter got to do with my earning capacity? :s13:
