I have a weird issue. After using Eight sim card for a couple of months on my spare phone, of late this phone cannot receive or make calls in/out. Data has no issue. I tested with zero1 and m1 sim cards all no problem. tested the Eight sim card on other phones, also able to make in/out calls am use data.
Any ideas? Using xiaomi 9 for this.
Contemplating to port out to vivifi because of this issue.
Anyone know why internet can work but I cannot call out?

I also intend to advise him on that but he was able to call with other SIM cards so it is not the check/uncheck VoLTE issue for Mi devices.Try these steps for your Xiaomi phone
1. Enter the string * # * # 86583 # * # * in the field for dialing numbers, a message will appear after the last character, which must end with DISABLE. If ENABLE, we repeat the string again. This will allow VoLTE because this menu is hidden by default.
2. Enter the string * # * # 869434 # * # * as above, again the message with DISABLE must appear at the end. We have enabled VoWIFI.
auto select or manual select your preference .. most people leave it automatic. It's the same as other telcos roaming no difference.Just subscribe to Eight and new to this thread. Would like to check for Malaysia roaming do I need to manually select Maxis or U Mobile or leave it as Automatically select so it picked the stronger signal automatically ?
Remember to check after topupI found already it says cashback voucher

I think this issue is for Starhub/their MVNO not other telcos, so disable the Volte carrier check should work. Happened to several ppl after they shut down their 3G liao and never whitelist many brands/models for Volte.I also intend to advise him on that but he was able to call with other SIM cards so it is not the check/uncheck VoLTE issue for Mi devices.
Glad the issue is resolvedThank you.
Yesterday i googled and found someone commenting in Android Central about Australia 3g shut down and the codes to key. I followed the steps and amazingly, my phone is able to make calls after that!
I have emailed Eight, but apart from asking for more information, they have not further replied me.
Still, thank you guys for helping!
May be when it comes to network connection, it is too technical why sometimes it works and sometimes it does not. I had an old tablet phone that will never detect SingTel 4G network, only 3G network. But works fine on the other telcos incl Simba. When it was used few years back with Simba network, the connection was good. Recently, I tried it with Simba and the connection was 90% undetectable, I am still puzzled why so cos Simba network recently was quite good with my other devices.I think this issue is for Starhub/their MVNO not other telcos, so disable the Volte carrier check should work. I forgot which way round but it's either the brand/model never apply to Telco/MVNO for whitelisting or the Telco/MVNO just cease support for the brand/model cause too old or they lazy to manage. On the other hand good thing that we have so many telcos/MVNOs to choose from and cheap so can anytime port see which one most compatible.May be when it comes to network connection, it is too technical why sometimes it works and sometimes it does not. A bit confusing indeed but given the situation whereby some export phones models had never launched in Singapore but still usable here could be the phone brand responsibilities to include as many Telcos networks as possible.I forgot which way round but it's either the brand/model never apply to Telco/MVNO for whitelisting or the Telco/MVNO just cease support for the brand/model cause too old or they lazy to manage. What is puzzling is that this tablet phone is still able to get Simba network but easily cut off until it is impractical to use at all.Yes, this is the standard route for new releases. Both sides need to play ball. But in sg and oz situations (and uk, and usa etc), it is telcos withdrawing support under the guise of "3g sunset". That's why some phones work on some telcos, but not another. Some telcos may hope to force sell new phones, so there is that ulterior motive. hey, that's capitalism
(a temporary factor is that singtel for now, still supports 3G calling, but once that is removed, then there will be another wave of "why my phone suddenly can't make/receive calls" questions)
Simba up to 2023, had a long list of phones/tablets where they suported VoLTE. in 2024, they removed a lot of devices, including some 5G devices. Your tablet probably fell victim to simba's move.
edit: before simba voice app was removed from google play store, there were a many 1* reviews in 2023 and 2024. almost all complained they were forced onto the app because in late 2023, the previously working VoLTE connection on Simba suddenly didn't work. (the 1* reviews were about the app, but they were equally unhappy about being forced to use the app, otherwise port out)
remember, Simba only supported VoLTE calling from the start, so any phone which worked was a supported phone. if it didn't subsequently work, is because of withdrawn support, not that the 4G phone became 3G overnight (as much as some people will try and convince you).

Question, is there an alternative way to login other SMS OTP?
I signed up the lines for my parents but I notice I am unable to manage the account easily as everytime I wish to login I need to get the SMS OTP for them and its per account per login.
