I bought a voucher from car show a while back for servicing using motul h tech oil, oil filter and checks at this workshop called autovox in toh guan. Price is $99.expiring mid year.

Don't intend to use it cuz I am going to my regular workshop for major servicing the next round.

Who interested in trying motul can get from me.

trying to get a premium brand EO for a normal sedan is really like splitting hair. Won"t have any improvement on engine. Just use semi synethic oil and change regularly at 10k km.

check for the right SAE rated oil as recommended in your car manual.

If your car has a high performance engine like a turbo charged engine, you must go fully synethic.

Just change my EO today..... Bought 4 quarts of Redline 5W30 and a bottle of Voltronic engine protector (usual stuff for me).

Engine smooth and good. Too bad MX close else I will get the Castrol from MX instead. NEvermind next time then go.

Change the oil myself, used oil pour back into the redline bottle. Can empty at MX for recycling.

Proton uses Petronas also. I was using Petronas 15w50 (the workshop use one). But I find it too thick so use it for cleaning engine. Change after 1K.

Using Motul on my Lancer. A little overkill for a bread and butter car but it's well worth it for the smooth acceleration which I get from this EO.

Mineral oil are refined from oil from the earth. Synthetic oil is man made oil. made in the lab.

All modern EO are designed for modern car engines and are designed to last more than 10k km of continuous usage, with a typical shelf life of 3 to 5 years.

Synthetic oil remain more stable at high operating temperature and oxidise less than mineral oil. You change oil because of the oxidation which form sludge, something that u dun want in your engine. All EO will degrade, but Synthetic, less so.

For normal cars, there is no additional benefit to use synthetic oil since mineral oil are designed to work within the operating temperature of the engine. in high performance engine like turbo-charged engines, you have to go fully synthetic because the engine will produce more heat and friction. Mineral oil will degrade very fast in that environment.

For normal sedans, semi- synthetic oil which is a blend of mineral and synthetic is already the optimal type for normal sedans. dun need to waste money and go fully synthetic.
