At this junction in time. ICE / Hybrid will still be the logical choice. EV technology and charging point, has not reached the stage where it is mainstream.

EV technology is still evolving. The new EV car you buy tomorrow, the technology become obsolete/less attractive the following year. Very difficult to sell an older EV that can only run 300km but newer EV can run 500km. Do you have easy access to charging point? In my case, there is not charging point yet in my carpark. Meaning I have to go out somewhere each time I need to charge. Easy access is important (don't even talk about price).

EV is the future. But not the near future (for Singapore). I reckon ICE / Hybrid is still attractive for the next 5 years.

Not sure what you mean by mainstream. Of course for everything new time will be needed for people to adopt.

I already had my EV for 2+ years. Some had it even longer. So I find it funny people still talk about EVs like it is some baby still crawling on the floor kind of technology.

EVs are running the same as any other cars on the road if you hadn't notice.

Yes, when China become the most powerful country in the world. ( and EV is helping them).

I choose hybrid / ICE for next car. I like to go Malaysia often and I dun stay at landed so I dun have dedicated charger.

But I foresee my next car after my next car will be EV cos by den I think chargers will be a lot more common and when more than 50% driving EV, it feels strange to be driving a ICE.

If you have access to charger in your condo or office carpark and don’t drive to KL/penang often then EV wins by a landslide

Charging lots are in abundance in truth, but some people after buying their EVs, will want to chiong to the cheapest chargers. But the cheapest is always the slowest. But they don't care, they rather pinch pennies then save some time.

Eg. Some chargers can get you full charge in around 1 hour or less, but people prefer to use slow charger charge 3-4 hours or more because the cost is 20% cheaper. Then they all hog the cheap chargers lor. Some people even drive far far to find the cheap chargers in punggol and woodlands it's LOL.

So if you are going to be one of them cheap chargers, don't buy an EV. If you are ok to charge quickly pay abit more, there are more than enough fast chargers everywhere, no queue one.

Go for a test drive. Compare dollar to dollar. Comfort and features. Easy to see why new buyers are choosing EV…

Yes you might not have an empty charging lot available but i charge whenever its convenient and available since each full charge can travel > 400km

Well, like I said, everyone also have their idiosyncrasies and habits.

You can say you do this and that, does not mean everyone will want to do what you do.

End of the day, I am just trying to share my experiences and observations as an EV user.

People can decide for themselves. If they decide not to drive an EV, no hard feelings, not my problem also. I am not really biased or care too much what others do to be honest.

It is purely my personal definition. I see it as mainstream when more than 50% of the cars are EV. It is getting there. Another 5 years I believe (as mentioned in my initial posting). I also see it as mainstream when all the support elements are in place. Today, where do you go if you want to check the health of your car battery. Where you go when you need to replace the battery. Your car is 2+ years and most probably under warranty. What happens when it is out of warranty. How much will the AD charge you for replacing your car battery. The cost of owning a car is not just the purchase price. It also include the maintenance and replacement cost.

EVs are running the same as any other car on the road. I totally agreed. I have two candles. both are same diameter. One is 10cm long and the other 20cm long. Both burns just as bright. Which one burn longer (last longer). When it come to car, the final judgement is the whole lifecycle of the car itself. Will your EV still run well after 10 years. It most probably can if we change the battery. But what about mileage. How many km can your car run in one full charge? Let say today it will be 400km. Ten years later, the new EV can do 800km or even 1K km (i expect that eventually).

I am not saying EV is no good and never to buy one. I am saying right this moment, the choice between ICE and EV is a very close call but ICE is still have a slight advantage. Personally I am driving Hybrid. It is an in between choice. If I am to buy a new car today, it will most probably still be a hybriod. But 10 years later, it will is most probably a EV. If I renew my car coe for an another 5 years, thereafter I think it will be most probably a EV too. EV is winning everyday. I sincerely wish to see more workshops in Singapore being able to handle a EV car.

To end my point, I sincerely believe a new ICE today is pretty rotten. Quality is totally not there. Not even a Toyota. Quality of everything has gone down the drain. Don't even know if a new ICE can last 10 years.
