hi guys... i need some help here.. :)
my fujitsu S6130 is abt 4 yrs old. Recently, i cant on the lappy. error msg "OS not found."
Then I did try to reinstall the OS using the recovery cds given and halfway thru the installation, error msg"HDD not found."
total com idiot here.
So can I know how much will it cost to repair this lappy? or is it better to sell to those who take in faulty laptop?
was quoted $180 for the lappy(spoilt) with all recovery cds, perfect condition box, docking station, charger and two batteries.(one still in gd condition)
thanks in advaNCE.

I think is the Hard disk problem. So I think if you find that since this laptop is 4 years and you are prepare to grab a new set, why not just sell it off for the $200 worth for now. Haha! :) Just my 2 cents.

If it is hard disk problem, then they might want to change the hard disk, which might cost around $200 - $400 inclusive of the service charge (provided they have the hard disk)

If we are talking abt OS not found, there is a few thing we can do to save $$ rather than bring in to the service center .... its all abt saving the $80 service charges and fix the notebook DIY yourself ...

1st of all we need to determine if your notebook able to detect HDD, simple way is on fujitsu logo, press F2 and you will reach bios, under your primany master do you see your hard disk? or it is stated as [NONE]?

Case 1 -> primany master able to detect hard disk but you have problem with reloading OS in, 99% your harddisk got problem, buy a new hard disk, I think IDE hard disk go as low as $50 for lower capacity like 40 gb, worth to try right? oh S6130 use IDE. Like this you save your $80 service charges ….

Case 2 -> primany master show [NONE], it mean the machine cannot detect your hard disk …. This case we are talking 89% chances hard disk is faulty, 10% mainboard is faulty, 1% hard disk cable is faulty. So if just nice you have a IDE hard disk maybe from a external hard disk or you buy to test anyway get a $50 to test on 89% chances still cheaper than $80 svc charges haha, ok just swap the hard disk in and check bios able to detect hard disk this time round anot … if hard disk able to detect after swap than all you have to do is to reload and you have a working machine to give to your brother. IF indeed very unlucky it still show as [NONE], trust me … fujitsu mainboard for this model should cost around $1000, forget abt it.

From the look at it… very very high chance it is hard disk faulty, to me I think it is worth to try it yourself, dun need to bring to service center to waste $$.

Hope my information help and good luck. :s13:

anyway just to add on, S6130 working condition I think can fetch around $400~$500 with 2nd hand dealer since it is centrio and not AMD ...

40 gb hard disk you can get at low price at sim lim ... you do the maths :s12:

I strongly believe the price is the same through out all their resellers other than the premium value of getting the quantity of stocks.

Any idea how much RAM can the Fujitsu T4220U support?
Any one upgraded to more than 2GB?

And did anyone tried to downgrade it to XP?
Thanks.

4GB DDR2 667MHz maximum memory is supported when Fujitsu recommended 2GB DDR2 667 MHz memory module is made available.

* P/S - Taken from Fujitsu website.

So the number of memory slot is 2.

You can try to downgrade to XP de mah, Fujitsu already have drivers for Window XP for this particular model.
