hi all.. would like to have some comment from u guys.. is E8240 (with free 4gb + 320hdd upgrade + some softwares bundles..) a good buy for $2225.60 after gst? i read online that fujitsu comes with a downgrade to xp cd in every box of laptop.. but i asked the sale person he say the shop nv receive any downgrade pc so cannot downgrade for me.. should i believe that every laptop purchased will come with the downgrade cd or dun buy till there is a downgrade cd available in store? coz vista got lots of bad reviews.. and the games i played aren't compatible with vista..

To correct the misconceptions here, there is no WinXP CD inside the package when you purchase your new Laptop.

If the new Laptop you purchased comes with either Vista Business or Vista Ultimate, you can go to AsiaPac at Henderson Road to request for a downgrade CD to WinXP.

This CD only contain the OS. As for the drivers, you have to go to Fujitsu website to download the drivers.

Please bring along your reciept down to Asispac as proof of puchase to obtain the downgrade CD.

For those whose laptop contains either Vista Home or Home Premium, Microsoft has decided not to offer the downgrade to you.

Hope this will clear any doubts anybody has.

i currently use A6020, just upgradedto 3GB RAM, so far so good

only problem is the optical drive, stopped working when A6020 about12 mths, had to pay labor charge to change to new optical drive

used to have E series, problem free,

yo man.. the laptop battery are normally first yr warranty.. 6mths normally is hp battery..

Heehee! i'm now owner of E8420N and super duper old C2310.. =X

but! i discovered that my E8420N is slightly different from the one in the brouchure.. mine lack of a pointer thingy in the keyboard area between G and H button.. i flipped to the underside and it's clearly stated 8420..

should i ignore this or get back to the ntu dealer for an exchange?

u will have to check the specs first. if u got from NTU, i believe the specs would be different from the ones outside. normally would be slightly different as the prices are different too. but your warranty will be far beta than those outside..

hmmmz... i checked the lappie specs with the brouchure.. it matched.. but the picture doesn't.. mine lack the pointstick.. i wonder is it the pic they used is E8420 while mine is E8420N.. that's why the differ?

those salesperson they won't care abt whether there is dead pixels or bright dot on the laptop or not... they just want to sell the stuffs that's it... that's why as consumer we must insist to check before purchase.... if they dun allow u to check on the spot... just walk away... there are so many shops selling it...i'm sure they will stop u and let u check.....even that time i bought it at IT show, so many ppl i also insist to check on the spot.....

Right on! Bought Fujitsu S7211 at Comex 2008. 1st laptop had 1 dead pixel. They gave me new one. This 2nd one had 1 line of 4 dead pixels! Finally 3rd one I checked OK. So u really must check for faulty pixels at purchase. Once you bring home, then you must live with it as 1 faulty pixel not covered under warranty.

According to the flyer, free 2nd batt, free upgrade to 4GB and free optical mouse....now I only got the last 2 freebies

same.. i think it's because the hdd is at the left side of the keyboard

I using S6520 with CM infinite, temp runs around 40 degrees..

i experience this too, the right side on the other hand is always cool.

I bought S6520 1 month ago. I'm quite satisfied this laptop. Only the left hand side heat up very fast.

Help Choosing : Fujitsu V1030 vs A6120

I am not a developer, just a typical business user : Financial advisor.

Daily: Concurrent open apps: Outlook, Browsers (FireFox/Mozilla & Explorer), MS Office, and a couple of User Applications (not heavy in either computing or graphics).

I will probably travel back and forth with it daily from Work to home, and to see clients.

At work I connect use External monitor, and external wireless keyboard and mouse, to network using wire.

At home or on road I use wireless.

I do not believe i need a High-end computer. I am based in Canada.
I have always used Toshiba in the past, and have had good experience. My current one is over 5 years old; I have extended it's life by addign Ram, but it is now acting very unstable....

V1030: A local computer store (small) recommended Fujitsu. he is offering me a good "compromise" computer : LifeBook V1030 for $899 Cdn$ ; this weighs a little lee 6.28 lbs

A6120: Right after I asked him to order it, a local known electronics chain store (many locations) circulated a sales flyer which included : Life Book A6120 for $799 Cdn$ (after manu rebate); this weighs 6.6 lbs

The specs, from what I see sound like i get more features for less money on the A6120.
Both have 15.4 screens although the V refers to Active Matrix, and the A refers to TFT ??

I called the local computer store and he said the V series is built more robust for daily travel and bumps and bruises. He said the A series is not as well built.

Suggestions of comments are really welcome !!
