Bought a S6520VB on 9th September 2008.

Hands itchy, decided to open up the back of the laptop to take a look inside.

Attched are the photos I took:-

Anybody knows what is that extra slot below the ram slot and on the right of hard disk drive used for? I think it is a mini PCI slot, but am not very sure of that.

That depends on the choice of your modular bay.

I purchased my modular bay battery for the 6520VB from AsiaPac at henderson as the Digital Asia branch at Funan told me that it has not come out yet (I think they were ignorant, rather than bluffing me).

It cost me 406 with GST.

It should be a full height mini PCI-E slot. I believe 6520 supports 3G connectivity through a mini PCI-E card (with necessary antenna connection). If you look at the battery area (the area when battery is removed), there's actually a slot for a SIM card.

hey mic, I notice my lappy heat up quite fast at the left side keyboard and the touch pad area...You got this problem?

IT's actually quite normal for the left side of the laptop to heat up more than other parts as the CPU, Fan & Heatsink for the CPU is on the left..

Take a look at demag_ac pictures and you will get roughly what i meant..

Hey, thanks for the info.

You are right, there is a slot for a card (not sure whether is it a SIM card or memory card, but should be a SIM card) at the battery bay area. :)

Just to add, for those who seem to be having problems with Vista SP1 on their Fujitsu notebooks (I have got a fatal and unrecoverable crash on Vista twice in a week), I would suggest either:

1. downloading updated drivers from the Fujitsu USA site, or
2. do not upgrade to Vista SP1 through Windows Update - even though Vista allows you to.

It seems like Fujitsu SG doesn't update their drivers very frequently, if at all, and I've even seen Microsoft employees mention about it in their online support forums.

Best to download drivers straight from Fujitsu, and not to update anyhow. I've learnt my lesson the hard way, and thank God for the backups.

Edit: I'm using a P8010, retail.

Hi I have been experiencing fan issues on my fujitsu for a while now, first it began with an overly noisy fan and many fan error notices, but now the fan doesn't even start up anymore.

From the posts I gather I have to send it in for a fixup? Sometimes it gets uncomfortably hot. I don't think my laptop is still under warranty, can anyone give an estimate of how much it might cost to do a fan repair/ replacement, and also how long I'd have it away from me?

My laptop is pretty much screwed up but this is the first major concern. Would be helpful if anyone can also provide information regarding prices to fix the following:

1. Keyboard with unresponsive and some half-responsive (but insensitive keys). Does this require a full keyboard replacement?

2. Charger is pretty much screwed, wire is exposed and it only works if I place the charger in a certain position. I'll almost certainly never get my laptop out of my home if I continue this way.

3. Outer case has a cracked hole in it, and some other scratches (not a major concern)

4. Battery is screwed up, I think I can get about half an hour to an hour on lowest power settings and low workload. (Simple document typing, maybe internet surfing, and with brightness on absolute minimum which means I can barely see.)

Can anyone help with these issues?

Btw if possible can anyone give tips on cracking open my laptop? I'd like to have a look at the fan inside, see what's going on and if I can save it, but I can't seem to get my way through the casing. (I know this sounds pretty lame =O) My warranty is probably already gone so no worries on voiding it I suppose.

With so many crap problems... Is it still worth the attempt salvaging what's left of it?

Just came back from SITEX 08 and bought 2 x 2GB Kingston DDR2 667Mhz RAMs for my A6020 @ $34 each.
My Vista Business reflects 3.3Ghz after installation.

Hope the performance gets better. :)
