Maybe he had some misconceptions on certain things or maybe I misunderstood him but then it's unreasonable to expect all salespersons to be well-versed in everything they sell. So you bought the 4K@60Hz as a casual gamer? I kinda understand your experience. I will not even game on such a monitor. First, playing at native resolution of 4K and then cranking down all the details in-game simply defeats the purpose of having a 4K monitor in the first place. Second, playing games (especially fast-paced FPS) capped at 60Hz is a thrust back to the era of Command and Conquer (pun intended). Worse, you may also observe screen tearing, which happens when your graphics card is rendering frames faster than your monitor can display them. You can of course enable VSync which caps your frame rate to 60fps, but you’ll get a higher input lag which truly sucks for an FPS. In any case, I will not advise playing fast-paced FPS on a 60Hz monitor, much less at 4K native resolution. And your GTX 980Ti obviously isn't an ideal card for 4K high frame-rate gaming.

It's debatable which is worse: cranking down all in-game details at 4K native resolution OR playing at lower resolution with a far smoother experience and with the highest in-game details.

Lol it's not like I have much of a choice rite back in 2015?
Back then, the only 'proper' 4k monitors were using 2x DP connections to achieve 4k@60 or just outputting 4k@30. 4k@120 wasn't even a thing back then. And I used my PC mainly for productivity purposes (photo-editing, video-editing, coding, game dev) with casual gaming (FIFA, Battlefield series) on the sidelines when I'm not doing productivity, so 4k was an obvious choice. And GTX 980Ti barely hit 4k@60 on medium settings for most AAA games, so I had to choose between graphics fidelity and resolution. Hence me triggered by your claim coz yo, you don't even get to choose back then. Either you buy 4k@60, 1440p@100 or 1080p@120.

Oh and in case of definitions issue: casual gamer is a hobbyist gamer who does not earn income from gaming. If you are talking about other types of casual gaming, then we are not talking on the same frequency.

Yeah. At lower resolutions, you might run into pixel mismatch issues too. It won’t be as nice.

Based on experience, the pixel mismatch becomes apparent when you run the game/video at one quarter and below of the native resolution. E.g. on 4k, running at 1440p is still acceptable, but the pixels start becoming visible at 1080p and below. For 1440p resolution, it will be at 720p game/video. Increasing distance to screen helps a bit (screen-door effect maybe?) but still can see the pixels.

I think nowadays if we have a high end gpu equivalent or like 3060ti and above, we just need a decent 1080p monitor with high refresh rate, and using Nvidia control panel DSR feature (2x or 4x) plus in game DLSS 2.0 feature we can easily obtained quality screen image similar to 2k and 4k that can be alot saving for monitor cost.

Nah, I don't see the point of doing that...maybe looks abit better or may even be just placebo effects unless one has 2 monitors side by side to compare.

The only time I may think of doing it is when for eg I am thinking to upgrade my monitor but not sure if present gpu can handle so I will 'try it out first' with existing monitor with dsr.

Okay this is really off topic but here goes -

Not sure if this is really equivalent to DLSS, but Radeon also has a way of rendering at lower resolutions and upscaling the final image to higher via AI. One way to do this is via Radeon control panel, and Sapphire Trixx also has an option. This works with all Radeon GPUs that support this tech, not just Sapphire AIBs. In fact I used this with my onboard graphics with a 4650G APU. I think the Sapphire Trixx vs. Radeon control are technically different applications but leverage the same tech. Can't remember what the name of it is atm, gotta go check..

So bottom line is, it may be possible to use, say, a 6800, or maybe even the upcoming 6700, with this tech and get decent frames/quality on a 4K or 1440p high refresh monitor

A staff whom had served me on the day of purchase had given me a call and apologised. He told me his boss had saw this thread and had asked him to call me.

I had also told him my intentions are to raise awareness of the service standards of Fuwell had dropped and the purchasing experience is far from great. He acknowledges the issue and agreed that the Sales staff could had handled it better.

At least the management of Fuwell took responsibilities and apologised. Let’s hope they could improve on the staff customer service standards after this incident.

Just want to vent out my displeasure with Fuwell experience.

I been doing up a new rig once every 2-3 years. For those who knows me, I would often do up SLI, Xfire, Tri Sli since 2012.

Last month when my rig is down, I decided to decommission my 1080ti sli rig and get a new rig.

So I head to Fuwell and purchase a mid tier rig, full system with 3070.

As I was lazy to fix up the pc myself, I gladly paid $20 for installation fees. Which was the start of nightmare.

When I got home, I found out the following from my casing accessories are missing.

- GPU vertical riser
- top fan mounting screws (u can’t use normal screws on NR200P top mount fans)
- fan grill (I don’t need it so I did not bother to tell them it’s missing)

I called Fuwell next day and head down. When I went into the shop and told the salesperson I am here to collect the missing GPU riser and top fan mount kit. The sales person shows displeasure and was pretty rude showing me attitude.

The tall salesperson just passed me 4 fan screws (normal one). I told him off, if I need the screws I won’t even bother come down. I want my gpu riser and quick mount screws which is supposed to comes with them. That guy went to the back and returned with the items I need.

I thought it’s over, till I found out they also did not give me the ARGB cable connection cables for my AMD prism wraith cooler.

Once again I called them and told them that they had taken my cables again without returning me. The salesperson told me to come down next day to collect.

When I reached the shop the next day, the same tall rude sales person was there and I told him I am there to collect the cables.

This time round he came back with the right cables and passed to me.

When I receive the cables, I asked him. Why is it that they would keep all the items that are essential to the items I had bought. Shouldn’t it be returned to the customer when I had purchased the item.

He simply replied, “uncle who fix your rig will keep whatever item is not installed in the system”. I told him, I had paid for the items, whatever is not installed should have returned to customer. I had to come down twice to hunt for the items which are supposed to return to me.

Sadly, no more Fuwell for me.

Make a police report that your items was stolen.
