You can install other launcher (Example: Nova) n switch between Touchwiz (Samsung default) and your installed launchers.

For SMS, you can choose Messaging (Samsung default) or Hangout (Google default or preferred).

i use apex launcher.. touchwiz? sucks leh.. icon so huge cannot customize also...

Launch Google Search, Switch off "Google Now" in its Settings!
