brace! brace! brace!
I think this time dip wont be as bad, I doubt if STI will even break 3k. People will be waiting to buy any dip, because they know it is just a matter of time vaccinations happen and then we can open up.

On the other hand if it did so, it would just be a 3-month low, which is not something that is super-rare.

I don't have any strong view on STI direction at the moment. If it goes under 3,000, I will buy some as that's how I buy STI ETF. My forecast is still for 3,001-3,100 by end of this year. In the meantime still topping up my Singlife account till it hits 100k to earn 1%.

I have no idea why people keep thinking that the market will continue to crash and burn. This will not be the same as the situation last year. Until the Indian variant spread to major countries like EU or the US, the impact on SG short term will be minimal for now.

Positioning for potential drops would be smart and to avg down if possible but for those hoping to bank in DBS at low 20s as an example must be deluded. Also, historically, most of the big drop comes with a decent rebounce the next trading day as evident today. I am sure many people would have expected today to drop another 50+ points or so on the news but hey, it's green now.
Most of the counters are in oversold zone, some people may still be fearful while others already start to buy or add, that's create a rush to buy.

Does anyone know how to interpret market depth data during auction and lunch break?

For example, planning to buy this today, and this is what POEMS' market depth shows at 12:25pm.

The data changes dynamically with no price matching taking place. But, can you roughly estimate the auction price from this data?

I am also curious, if someone places a bid higher than 2.70 or an ask lower than 2.70, they are not shown in the table.

When the market close at $2.70 lunch break, auction will be $2.70. Only auction after market close at 5pm may change a little bit.
After lunch break, market open will be $2.70, then $2.71 if the volume is bigger than $2.70/$2.69.
Example if you want to buy at $2.69, the price need to be $2.68 then you got chance to buy. If you want $2.70, just place order before market open.

If an order's bid is higher than $2.7 and ask is lower than $2.7, these are all already consolidated within the $2.7 quantities (i.e. 59,800 and 417,900).

In your example, if no more orders come in, 59,800 shares will be be matched at $2.7.

Thanks for your response. The auction price was $2.70 when lunch break ended.

My understanding is that during auction, if Bid = Ask, $2.70 in our example, then that will be the auction price. Otherwise, there will be no auction price as the prices do not match.

Previously, I (incorrectly) thought that the auction is done blind-folded. However, since market depth is still updated during auction, everyone can already estimate if there will be a price match and what price it will be...
