hi all, got into a bad accident while on a getgo car and a taxi driver crashed onto the back of my car. Can I ask whats the max damage payment if i never opt into CDW? I saw the website the excess fee is 10.8k, is that the max i have to pay? and will i get my license revoked? Thanks in advance

you are on a GetGo car while it crash?
How are you still alive?

Great, now the J8 junction is red turn arrow, 0 cars in the morning and we can't turn, what a waste of time for the name of 'safety'.

1. this is not kenna rear ended.
2. if you don't have right of way, likely you will be 100% liable or slightly lesser
3. even if one has 0% liability, kenna accident with some rental company = 100% excess + Gst to be paid first. don't know why but it's up to them to see if they will refund this later or it may also become admin fee.

freaking time bomb if you were to ask me.

I hope I never have to be in the shoes of the taxi driver. Personally, I don't care if I have the right of way. if I am clearly at risk of hitting the other car going the same speed I am, I will rather hit the brakes if safe and let him go ahead first. Similarly if I cannot be sure the other car is going to stop at the stop line and give way, I am going to be prepared to slow/stop. No point having the right of way and ownself suffer in the crash.

by right even when going straight via a traffic light junction.

1. stay within speed limit
2. ease off accelerator (don't have to brake)
3. prepare to brake if there's potential accident, but don't have to slam because if you lose control, not so good.

with point 1-2, very safe already. why so? need to think.. it's being taught in class 4 some years back, need to drop gear.

Road safety first for me.
I would prefer LTA remove discretionary right turn for high traffic or blind spot junction like a slope or turn blocking the view of Drivers making the Right Turn but it seems like as usual LTA covering their a** remove it for "ALL" traffic junctions.

I can name a few of such large junctions, like J8, but for small roads, even it's a T junction, not X-junction they also do it.

Then in the wee hours, no traffic all the cars build up there, then only 4-5 cars can turn each time. It's lousy planning.

Sadly yes, they decided to just cover ass regardless of the situation. It also make drivers less safe in the long run IMO especially when overseas because all lack experience making judgements only rely on traffic lights.

Should just ban right turn, just make roads that go straight only, no uturn, no right turn, pedestrians all must use overhead, cannot cross roads, stupid one.

I was turning right at a discretionary right turn and the vehicle from the front sped and hit my rear while I was almost 80% completed my turn

Your description of the accident is faulty . The taxi driver didn't hit the rear of your Getgo car . You were not supposed to be at that position on the road .

Key word here is ' discretionary ' . Your discretion failed . Making a turn when there was a vehicle close to you coming straight who had right of way .
This is 100 % your fault sir . Your mistake making the turn . always click that CDW in the app.
GetGo will claim max from you.

100 % on the dark car according to BOLA

Sounds like his fault too. Turning when knowing well that theres a car coming from the front. That's why I wish they will remove theses discretionary right turn and put a green arrow.
not exactly the safest too!

Encounter this before, already in my favor, I saw the van speeding towards me, I can be 'right' or be safe, I choose to brake and wait. He went past the line then realised, and e-brake then reversed back, before I proceeded to turn.

There's only so much regulations can do, even with that much regulation such things still happen then it's useless and flawed thinking 'safety' stems from traffic lights.

exactly.

yes it's the taxi driver's fault. but it's the current approach to traffic solutions that is mind-boggling.

every junction a different system..

Some junctions can see clearly, some can't, but they just blanket all in the same of so-called 'safety'. Safety is separating the pedestrians, cyclists, from the roads totally.

There's only so much enforcement can do, the liabilities lies in the common sense of the drivers. No amount of safety traffic lights can help.

Most likely you will be find to be partially at fault.
Go read through and fully understand the TnC you agreed to when renting Getgo.
Just get ready to pay the full excess first and hope for the best for any refund.

TS, this is an expensive lesson. Spread or warns to your gp if any. Rental coy will try their best to claim full from you in the event of accidents involving their rides.

Good luck!

Discretionary is the one without red arrow right? In such cases i would say its a 50/50 case. U might win or lose or 50/50, depends on ur video and the taxi video. If u lose totally, u have to pay the max 10.8k.
50/50??? You drive or not?

Chill chill... 50/50 80/20, 100/0 depends on the insurers, we no need get so uptight. It's only a matter of $10,800.
