aiyah...ppl...u guys got it wrong...

i already unlocked and root it...the issue at hand is much more deeper than just root and unlock the bootloader...rather, the stock ICS that is in our (or just mine, and many others in xda) were not using the defaut google build of ICS and instead, using samsung's...which mean we will not receive any OTA......even manual patching it from google's side cannot be done due to signiture differences...

the only way is to Install a custom rom which is based on the F build rather than the D build with the bug, which i did..

i am merely lamenting that even for a Nexus phone...there is such 'fragmentation'....

i am buying a nexus phone because i want the most 'pure' google phone but even then, they have to screw around the builds...

That really sucks, man. I really hope they solve this problem. Fragmentation shouldn't exist on a Google Experience device. -_-

does it mean tat not all galaxy nexus are "nexus"???

quote from the webby "yakjusc and yakjuxw are indeed the two Samsung-prepared builds I’m aware of at the moment, but I’m discovering them as they get released. I only have some visibility over the builds that are prepared by Google, i.e. yakju. Everything else comes from Samsung and I don’t know what their schedules and release plans are. I can’t guarantee that flashing the yakju files that I posted would work on a device that originally shipped with yakjuxw, as I don’t have access to such devices. The hardware is supposed to be close, but I don’t know for sure that it’s close enough. JBQ"

loardlad0 mention his is yakjuxw means its pure google n not samsung build???
m veri confused here... someone pls enlighten me..

It is indeed becoming more sucky for Nexus users. :(

Or maybe it's just fear-mongering and updates by Google will still push to the other sets after "beta" testing by those who get it directly from Google.... It's known that Google doesn't always get their updates problem free out every time.

But thankfully most Nexus users should be slightly more techically inclined enough to "make it right". :D This shouldn't be a reason to shun the Nexus.

Nothing wrong with his decision. If one doesn't want to root, he shouldn't be forced to root to fix a problem that should not have come with this phone. This case should have been handled properly, why the heck are there two different builds for the firmware? Now google cannot patch both version of the phone for god knows what reason.

I never say his decision was wrong. I just wanted to clarify that he is saying that ppl who got the same version of phone as him MUST root to be able to get rid of vol bug if Samsung doesn't release their own fix.

Check your build.prop using a file manager and a note/html/doc viewer...

it is found in /system.

Look for the line ro.build.fingerprint=xxxxxxx

If you asking how to find out by looking at the box, then no one knows, though there may be a trend or something with the sticker.

Anyway SG set not out yet so we won't know. The ones we ordering from SGBest come from UK so will get the non yakju set depending on luck.

Look for a line that looks like this

ro.build.fingerprint=samsung/yakjuxw/maguro:4.0.1/I9250XWKK5_ITL41D/163402:user/release-keys

Note that the above is the yakuxw version.

Anyway if buy from telco, may not be the google version also...

Any info yet as to which telcos will be getting our beloved GN in Jan? I'm guessing most likely Singtel for sure.

Hide media files

Hi Bros,

Anyone know how to hide media files in Gallery?
I try the old method in early android version by adding ".nomedia" in the folders that I don't want Gallery to scan. But it doesn't seem to work for ICS.

Anyone any idea?

This has been a problem since honeycomb. Try adding .nomedia and then clear gallery cache and restart your phone. Can't guarantee it will work.
