for those that got a set from amazon, can I check if the warranty put 1 year north american warranty is it valid in Singapore? If not then I would have to get 1 in singapore.

Hi noob to tablet, I thinking of signing m1 contract w free google nexus 7, I think its 1st gen one?

Does it have call and sms capability?

It is 3G right? Or 4G

Who should I look for to buy those plastic casing? Scare drop n spoil.

No call/SMS capability. You can either buy the 3G version or the WiFi-only version.

I suggest you search on Google to read up more before signing up with M1 to get the free Nexus 7. The Nexus 7 isn't exactly a popular device in Singapore and if you're an average user you should be looking for Samsung tablets, where support and accessories are much more easily found.

Local warranty - Available only in Singapore

International Warranty- You can get it repaired worldwide (including Singapore) as long as they have a service center there.

Conclusion: International Warranty > Local Warranty


All ASUS tablets/notebooks come with international warranty.

Just buy from challenger. It's still selling 249 for 32gb wifi.

think my expectations were unrealistic. compared to my galaxy s3, the n7 is very laggy i thought their performance would be more or less similar...

i rooted it and it can send SMS and whatsapp, but since update to 4.3, too lazy to reroot and load the patch file and apk.

Nexus 7 (2012) is laggy due to 2 main factors - Tegra 3 & Slow Nand Chips

Compared to most 7" tablets in 2012, it was indeed one of the better ones for the price. You should consider the 2013 edition if buying now.
