recommendation for espresso grinder pls; and where to buy from?
1. specialita?
2. sette 270?
3. baratza vario?
Cant comment on others, I only have experience on the baratza sette 270 before upgrade to niche zero.
The reason for upgrade
- My workflow is usually single dose.. so i dont like the hopper style and its kind of taking up extra space on my setup. I dont leave my bean in the hopper..
- To me its a bit of hard to find the correct dialing sometime. (maybe just me)
- dialing in on different grind setting, all the shots regardless of time tasted more or less the same (maybe just me)
- itchy backside
Comparision after i bought the niche zero
- The grind on niche is much fluffier with way less clumping
- sette is pretty loud vs niche ( It make alot of diff when your wife is sleeping and you trying to have a good cup of coffee)
- In my experience using the same recipe the Niche Zero's shots were fuller and less bitter/harsh than the Sette 270. In direct comparison, the Sette's shots tasted one dimensional.
- When dialing in the Niche Zero, its obvious when a shot was over or under extracted. Huge difference in flavor with the Niche Zero.
personal feel is that the Sette 270 is a more forgiving grinder that will deliver a more than adequately good shot without much trouble. The Niche Zero is less forgiving, however if you nail your recipe, you are in for something.
The Baratza Sette 270 is a fantastic grinder for the price. But if you could up your budget, i think niche is a better grinder.
I think i use to bought my sette from PPP coffee.
