I'll read more on it. It looks like a cheaper version of Victoria Arduino Venus. Local distributor is Tiong Hoe.

Good choice!
After one week, my guys and guests don't really like it, they find too sour. :(
Put with a lot of milk still sour. :(

Think going back to my cheap normal beans to normalise the situation first.

Looking for something not too bitter with slight acidity and not above $50 per kg. :o

They are very different machines. The venus is a single boiler. The elektra is a non commercial spring lever. Brew pressure is 6 bar max because of the small group and spring.

That being said both are beautiful machines and I don't see why both can't be capable of good espresso.

Victoria arduino machines are expensive. The interesting one are the gravimetric range.

Nuova Simonelli Own VA?
How much are those Venus babies?

It's about GBP1000. Not too expensive but I am not sure how it tastes like.

I am quite interested in Elektra Micro Casa after reading some comments. Sure there are some flaws but it has its espresso has some unique, mellow characteristics. It costs less than Strega and might be a good balance between aesthetics and performance. I am still inclined towards Strega at this point, but this is coming in quite close.

Think very different from the Strega which is a heat exchanger while the elektra is a single boiler. The Elektra needs to manual refill like my karcher hand steamer, troublesome, PITA and dangerous. :o

Strega can go up to 10 bars then glides down to about 5 from HB Jim Schuman's test. Or can let it stay at a flat 10 bars like the other machines. Can also stop at lower pressure or reintroduce pressure to create different profiles.

The Elektra can only brew at lower pressure. :(

The Strega is using a full-fledged commercial grouphead and copper boiler system, it is not comparable.

The pre-infusion is a lot and all these make it very easy to produce a "god" shot. A lot of new startups roasters here in Australia use them in the sampling labs. Matter of fact, I think they reproduce the shots closest to the LM's Strada in the recommended default settings.
That should tell you what sort of leagues are we comparing to.

Strega comparable to Strada? That's a major achievement and from the price point, it brings much more value for the Bezzera.

True... I think the only competition for Strega may be the new Londinium R that's just released 2 months ago. Still very new. Actually Jim's video is one of hte reasons that got me into Strega.

Already told you that I bought the beans from the cafes using those expensive machines, the Strega taste closer. :o

The Londinium R looks good man and should be close in performance, but if I want the wooden knobs for the Strega, I can buy from overseas and install. Not sure hard to install and easy to scratch or not.

I read it takes one hour for the Londinium to start up :s22:

Not cheap too, the Rotary pump won't give much advantage but should be exp to repair. The machine itself add shipping and gst cost more than the Strega + M80E :(

Ya maybe but you pay a premium for it. :o
When it eventually breaks, it will also cost more to replace.

SSD, SD cards and thumbdrives are said to be more durable but I already had a couple of them dead. :(

I've very sure the londinium does not take 1 hour to start up....

In any case its a lever machine.... after the boiler has reach its max temp, you can raise the lever to flush the group head and heat up the group head that way. you dont have have to wait for the thermosiphon or dipper design to heat up the group head....
