Mai stupid rah.
Whether you pour your beans into your grinder or you keep elsewhere, your coffee still oxidise. You keep opening your packet and pour in even worse.

Fail advice.

yes, coffee will keep oxidising no matter what. so what we can do is to minimize the oxidation to keep it fresh for as long as possible. even cafes don't store their beans in the hopper overnight.
my methods are to keep beans in an airtight non-transparent container and I weigh my beans b4 and after grinding.
perhaps you can share your method here

The better way is buy less beans, dump into a small hopper and leave it. You should drink finish it in preferably less than 5 days.
If you are gravely concern, then tape the opening at the nozzle or any openings. If you bought too much, it will still be an issue in anyway, whatever you do.

Not recommended to keep opening and pouring in as this refresh the oxygen in the bag and wherever you pour it.

Even if you keep your beans presumably in vacuum tight condition, there's still oxygen trapped in between the beans. IIRC it's ard 20% for coffee beans.

For cafes, it's pretty easy to control with larger consumption.
Again it's back to talking about getting the right pack sizes that fits the consumption level.
If you are opening a cafe, it is still wise to purchase an additional small grinder. They are useful for your decafs or other not as popular blends.

There are other ways we can do to preserve the coffee, but those are trade secrets.

Grinders are essential but it's more important to buy one that fits your consumption level not buying one with the most features and biggest size.

Just like buying a swimming trunk, you need to get the right size. If the size is too big, it will simply pull you down no matter how advance the fabric is.

good suggestions by calbay. I'll try out the beans in the hopper and see how it goes.

Also, on the repeated opening and closing issue, I thought of a way to minimize the problem is to split your bag of beans in separate containers. I'll be trying this in the near future too.

I remember seeing a pic on home-barista.com where a guy stores his beans on little test tubes. I presumed they had been weighed out 1st. And of coz they had to be kept away from sunlight. This sounds like a good option to explore too.

::Titan Welding Co ::

That was 3yr ago pricing
$150 for deposit for tank and $10.50 for the nitrogen gas (10 liter).

when i first started out (french press) i use it to flush coffee bean canister with nitrogen gas after i finish taking out the coffee bean before storing it back.....

My family thought i was crazy...... i use it for around 6month before my dad force me to return it. but the coffee did stay fresh till i finish my coffee bean.
